THE MOON, its phases and closeness / distance from Earth!

This data was a feature on the old earthquake program I used to use, but now it looks like a real moon, and orbits earth when I want.

I can turn it off or on at a whim, and show it when necessary!!!

Most people who know my name know it off a screen, a post, or a podcast.

Not one of these kids does.

Took this yesterday in South Memphis, in a house we rebuilt from the studs on what used to be one of the deadliest streets in America.  

These kids know me because of a house.  Because of a block.  Because of what does and doesn't happen outside their front door anymore.

I struggle with part of that.

The kids were always there (not these exact kids).

Back when I was out here financing the dope economy on this block, buying it and being every bit of the problem, they were behind those doors the whole time.  I never saw a single one of them.  They couldn't come outside.  Wasn't safe.

First time I went back to Melrose and saw children playing in the street, I cried twice.  

Once because it was beautiful.  Then again when I did the math on their ages and understood they'd been in those houses the entire time I was out there making it unsafe for them.

These kids don't know me from a viral post.

They know me from Christmas presents getting opened in a house where a trigger once clicked on my face.

They know me from the Fourth of July on a street that used to be a dope track - a hundred people, kids running wild in the grass, not one single incident.

They know me from Betty's babies walking back into the house that took their mama and seeing it doing something positive.

They know me because their mother has keys to something now.

I say all that to say this.

The ONLY reason I'm even on social media is to pay for more of that.

I don't want to be an influencer - at all.  I've got a face for radio and a mouth that gets me in trouble.  

I post because ten houses and damn near six hundred people off the streets did not happen for free, and because there are still blocks in this city where the kids can't come outside.

Every dollar buys a door some kid gets to walk out of.
