In Science, Year 5 have been exploring the life-cycle of plants! We learned how some plants can make identical clones from just one parent; this is done by using bulbs, runners, tubers and more. π±πͺ΄ @thesteptrust
Year 6 were tasked with data that they had to turn into a pie chart. Using their knowledge of angles, percentages and number, they worked creatively to successfully construct their very own pie chart #impressive#applicationofmaths@thesteptrust
In Year 2, our children became historians. We had a hot seating with "THE Niel Armstrong". This was a great way to have an immersive experience and to critically think from the perspective of explorers before us. #learningaboutthepast#younghistorians@thesteptrust
The children in Reception have been busy exploring springtime learning π±π From doubling spots on ladybirds to creating their own mini farms and planting areas, theyβre discovering how things grow and change this season. #curiosity@thesteptrust
In History, Year 3 have been learning about Ancient Egypt, exploring artefacts, the social hierarchy and the importance of mummification and the afterlife whilst also studying gods and goddesses such as Anubis, Ra and Osiris. They've thoroughly enjoyed this unit! @thesteptrust
Nursery are learning about Spring. We made kites from paper plates and the children had a go at flying them. We also have our own minibeast lab out for exploring as we are looking and learning about them too. #learning#excitement@thesteptrust
This week, Reception applied their food technology skills to make Easter nest treats. The children showed great independence and enthusiasm throughout the activity. π£β¨ #EYFS#EarlyYears#LearningInAction@thesteptrust
Our creative Year 2s have been working incredibly hard at creating their very own moving vehicles! We have been learning all about axles and rods in design and technology so that we could build our own as successfully as possible. It's been great fun! #getpractical@thesteptrust
This week our pupils designed and made their own canvas beach bags! They used back stitch to sew the sides, added handles and decorated them with felt or fabric pastels. Such #creativity and brilliant sewing skills on show. @thesteptrust
Year 3 practised the key skills for their crossβstitch final pieces. Using binca, a needle and thread, we focused on making neat, consistent stitches to build confidence before starting our real designs next lesson. #creativity#technicalskills@thesteptrust
Year 5 tested which material creates the most gas in cola. After heading outside for some very fizzy experiments, they were surprised to find that sugar caused the biggest reaction - even more than Mentos! A brilliant afternoon of curiosity and #messyscience π@thesteptrust
During Science Week, Year 3 explored erosion by shaking a sugar cube with sand in a container. The sand rubbed the cube, breaking off small pieces and making it smaller. This showed us how rocks are worn down over time. We had great fun! #science#creativity@thesteptrust
"How much voltage does it talk to blow a lightbulb?". Whale class added 50volts and it was still lit, Walrus class blew theirs at 12volts (we concluded that with such a difference maybe there was another component causing a break in the circuit!)π‘#understandingwhy@thesteptrust
Bat and Bee class have had an amazing week. During Science Week, they became 'germ destroyers', investigating the best ways to wash away naughty germs. They also became structural engineers, working in teams to explore how to make pasta bridges stronger. #teamwork@thesteptrust
Year 2 were also investigating how plants absorb water! We put celery in coloured water and watched the colour travel to the very top of the steam. This was a brilliant way to show us how water travels up the steam to the leaves. #understandingscience@thesteptrust
Year 2 scientists investigated materials this week. We tested which materials (foil, baking paper, tissue paper and fabric) would be strong or weak. We made predictions then conducted a fair test. A lot of our scientists were happy with their results! #science@thesteptrust
Year 1 tested their eggβdrop designs this weekπ₯π They worked like engineers to protect the eggsβ¦ some survived and some went splat... but they had so much fun learning! #scienceisfun#getinvestigating@thesteptrust
