How much VAT is charged on which product, how much the making charges on gold should rightly be, what’s fair and what’s unfair — everything is politics. The shopping you love doing, which feels like therapy to you, is also politics. They’re selling you polyester in the name of silk, darling. The food you eat, the matcha you love, the oat milk you buy — how much adulteration is there in everything — it’s all politics.

So if you’re not politically aware, you’re not even awake.
