The unfortunate passing away of Mr. Bappi Lahri due to OSA has brought to light this deeply prevalent condition. I've personally received a lot of DMs since yesterday to learn more about What Sleep Apnea is. In this tread I explain the basics.
Understanding sleep apnea.
What is it, and why does it happen?
#Sleepapnea is a #sleep disorder where breathing pauses during sleep.
Most predominant in men, overweight people, and those above ages of 35.
In most cases, people do not recognize it as a sleep #disorder because
Incomplete or inconsistent sleep shows clear signs. Yawns, mood swings or the lack of concentration are a few indicators.
Assess how you feel when you wake every morning - if you feel tired through the day then add an hour of sleep to your schedule.
You can mitigate blue light in the following ways:
➡️ Use blue light glasses in the evening/night
➡️ Turn on the blue light filter on all your screens
➡️ Avoid screens 2 hours before bedtime
➡️ Avoid carrying devices to bed. Leave them on a desk.
@McKinsey But the downside could be that when someone is already struggling with poor sleep, analysing so much data can make someone #anxious. Suppose the results aren’t going the way they wanted to, they might start worrying more and lose more sleep over it.
@McKinsey#Sleeptech has both pros and cons. They’ve made it easier to track sleep and measure its quality. Light controlling gadgets, temperature controlling mattresses and blankets are helping improve sleep quality.
