15 years ago, I moved to Norway ๐ณ๐ด... carrying my Indian work ethic - weekend work, skipped lunches, late evenings, and pushing myself even when I was not well.
Then one day, during my early days in Norway, my boss called me in. I thought I was going to be praised.
You replied to my email on Saturday. And you cancelled your vacation to deliver a project without telling me. I know you meant well, but that is not okay.
Vacation is mandatory. You never skip it. Your juniors are watching you. If they see this, they will think this is what dedication means.
I got scoldedโฆ for working too much.
I sat there confused. In India, this might have earned me a โhighly dedicatedโ remark. Here, it was a problem.
That day broke something in me.
It made me see the hustle, the anxiety, and the need to keep grinding all the time - and for the first time, I broke in tears for everything it had quietly cost me.
Your thoughts - how are bosses and corporate culture today for you
My Tahajjud Story
A few months ago, I was making the same du'a every night in Tahajjud. Nothing seemed to be changing, and honestly, there were nights when I felt exhausted repeating the same words. But I kept asking Allah anyway. One night, while making du'a, I realized that Allah had already started answering me not exactly how I wanted, but by changing my heart, increasing my sabr, and bringing me closer to Him. Then, when the time was right, He gave me what I had been asking for all along. Looking back, the wait was part of the answer. Tahajjud taught me that Allah never ignores a sincere du'a. He either gives you what you asked for, gives you something better, or prepares you for it first.
I think Senegal is the only African team other Africans will 100% support in the World Cup.
They are a very lovable nation unlike Morocco and Xenophobia fc
๐จ Murals of Lamine Yamal and Pep Guardiola have appeared on destroyed buildings in Gaza.
The works are a gesture of thanks for their support for Palestine, with organizers saying the murals symbolize solidarity and recognize the impact their positions have had among people.
Stadiums will be built and completed in 24 hours.
During half time, they'll change the direction the stadium is facing so that the sun doesn't enter the Chinese team's eyes.
๐จ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐: Roman Molina provides a fresh update on Somali referee Omar Arteh;
๐ฃ๏ธ โOmar obtained a diplomatic passport and traveled directly, only to be stopped, questioned, and so on. They took his phone and tablet from him and haven't returned them to him yet, and he was deported from U.S. soil on a flight headed to Turkey.โ
โFIFA issued a statement afterward saying โwe cannot intervene in countries' immigration procedures,โ but in reality, FIFA did intervene in immigration procedures during the last World Cup in Qatar. But it seems like everything is measured with two different standards.โ
โFIFA knows that the U.S. administration does whatever it wants, so we could have imagined they'd say to themselves: โAlright, let's play it safe and assign him to officiate matches in Mexico or Canada.โ But no, because FIFA is ruled by sheer incompetence.โ ๐๐ฅฒ
Spain ๐ช๐ธ now allows the call to prayer/azan from mosques via loudspeakers in several cities, under laws that protect freedom of worship.*
This is a sight that reflects religious coexistence and respect for Muslims' right to perform their rituals, as the azan can be heard in several areas of Spain, just like in many countries around the world.
After centuries of Islamic history in Andalusia, the sound of the azan is still heard in parts of Spain. ๐โช๏ธ
