Yesterday we learned about the different parts of the seed. Then, we had a "bean lab" and dissected lima bean seeds. Students used magnifying glasses to observe the seed coat, food storage, embryo or baby plant and the leaves. #liltrojans
Today we looked at pictures of each type of chicken we are incubating during our brainsmart start. During centers some children chose to write about them. Some drew pictures and wrote their name and dictated their sentence. Others copied words from our chart. #liltrojans
Our #liltrojans love writing about what they are learning about chicks as they develop in the eggs. Today they observed pictures of our eggs from when I candle them. We are down to 7 days left till they hatch!
Today we watched a video of chicks hatching. Afterwards children looked at pictures of the chickens that laid our eggs and drew what they thought the chicks would look like. #liltrojans
Today we made predictions on how many of our 32 eggs would grow and hatch into chicks. Later the children wrote about in their journals. Some drew pictures only, others wrote the number we recorded on our chart earlier. All are developing writing skills! #liltrojans
Today we began a study of life cycles and spring with an egg lab. We studied and egg, recorded our observations, and began incubating chicken eggs. We read a book about chick life cycles and are excitedly counting days till they hatch! #liltrojans
Our #liltrojans have been busy this Monday. Fine motor muscle development at centers and an igloo stem challenge after learning about people that live in Arctic regions.
As we studied arctic animals we noted several animals have blubber. Today we did an experiment to see how blubber works. First we made a prediction, then we tested our prediction, and last we recorded the results. We
were so excited! #liltrojans
