Never once in the Constitution Does It Say We Are A Democracy.

The Constitution never once uses the word “democracy.” What it does say, in Article IV, Section 4, is that the United States shall guarantee every state a Republican Form of Government. The Founders chose that word on purpose. They had studied pure democracy and rejected it because it offered no protection against majority tyranny. Instead they built a republic with elected representatives, separation of powers, equal state representation in the Senate, an Electoral College, lifetime judges, and a Bill of Rights that deliberately limits what even a large majority can do. Calling America a “democracy” erases those hard limits. The text of the Constitution does not.
