The most iconic Freedom Run ad on Doordarshan, one that brought a nation together in a spirit of glorious patriotism. This was 1987 when Rajiv Gandhi was PM (it’s his birth anniversary today) and DD was creating some brilliant trend setting shows.
Sadly, today in an age of performative nationalism, we make Insta reels that often lack genuine emotion. And the same public service broadcaster who once united a nation now divides us with toxic religious propaganda. Tragic. 🙏

I last saw you and Papa together more than 35 years ago. Since the day Papa left, I have watched you face everything life threw at you with never-ending courage and dignity. Only Priyanka and I really know what you have been through, and how difficult your life after Papa truly was.

धर्मेंद्र प्रधान का इस्तीफा हमारे education system को फिर से संवारने की दिशा में बहुत बड़ा कदम है।

शाबाश देश भर के छात्रों, आप सभी पर गर्व है।

सड़कों पर आ कर लोकतंत्र, संविधान और अपने भविष्य की रक्षा में डट कर खड़े होने वाले हर एक युवा, हर छात्र को बहुत-बहुत बधाई।

2 मांगें अभी भी बाकी हैं - प्रधानमंत्री छात्रों और भारत के भविष्य को सम्मान देते हुए माफ़ी मांगें और छात्रों पर हिंसा के दोषियों पर कार्रवाई हो।

ये समाज के दूसरे वर्गों किसानों, मजदूरों, गरीबों, हर वो व्यक्ति जिसे इस सरकार ने दबाया है, कुचला है - अपने सम्मान के लिए संवैधानिक तरीके से डटकर खड़े होने में ही असली साहस है।

इस सरकार को हटाने का वक्त आ गया है।

A Businessman Shishir Kapoor has exposed the Modi government, highlighting how it is wasting taxpayers’ money just to show crowds at Bharat Tex 2026, which was organised at Bharat Mandapam.

He says that people who had no capacity to buy were brought in, and they were provided accommodation at the Imperial and Le Meridien, where a room costs around ₹80,000 per person per night. He has appealed to businessmen to boycott the event if this happens again.

After Vote Chori and Sarkar Chori - the BJP-EC jugalbandi has finished the contest before it has even begun with Seat Chori.

Look at what happened in the recent Rajya Sabha elections.

Congress candidate Meenakshi Natarajan ji submitted every document. No pending cases. The EC cancelled her nomination on a frivolous BJP objection.

Parimal Nathwani ji, the BJP-backed independent, got his own name wrong on the form and skipped multiple mandatory disclosures. The EC gave him an extension to fix everything.

Same Election Commission. Two candidates. One was disqualified without even a hearing. The other was rewarded despite not following the rules.

When the Congress sought a meeting, the EC first tried to evade us. When we finally met, they did not say one word.

Expect to see much more of this - because for the BJP, it is far easier to fix the election than to win it.

I travelled through Great Nicobar today.

These are the most extraordinary forests I have ever seen in my life. Trees older than memory. Forests that took generations to grow.

The people on this island are equally beautiful - both the adivasi communities and the settlers - but they are being robbed of what is rightfully theirs.

The government calls what it is doing here a “Project.” What I have seen is not a project. It is millions of trees marked for the axe. It is 160 square kilometres of rainforest condemned to die. It is communities that have been ignored while their homes have been snatched away.

This is not development. This is destruction dressed in development’s language.

So I will say it plainly, and I will keep saying it: what is being done in Great Nicobar is one of the biggest scams and gravest crimes against this country’s natural and tribal heritage in our lifetime.

It must be stopped. And it can be stopped - if Indians choose to see what I have seen.

Pained to ask: is this the way how you describe the meritorious students of the esteemed Jadavpur University? Is this your concept of decorum and courtesy? Jadavpur University has been receiving top ranks from your Government’s NIRF ranking framework year after year, and you descend to insult that centre of excellence? You stoop so low?

The students of the Jadavpur University have earned their place through merit and walk out with degrees, with intellect, with the ability to question. That is not anarchy. That is education and that is excellence.

Anarchy is not students raising their voices.
Anarchy is using bulldozers as instruments of power instead of justice.
Anarchy is when farmers die and their voices are crushed.
Anarchy is when those convicted of rape and other heinous crimes walk free for political convenience.
Anarchy is denying the poor their rightful dues.
Anarchy is dividing a nation along religious lines for votes.
Anarchy is refusing to face the press, refusing accountability, refusing questions.
Anarchy is refusing to acknowledge that Manipur is burning but you are busy with elections.

Students protesting do not constitute a breakdown of democracy - it is democracy in motion.

Please do not defame the educational institution which was inspired by our early nationalists including Sri Aurobindo as a pioneer. Please do not defame Bengal.

Congress party unequivocally supports Women’s Reservation. Parliament unanimously passed the bill in 2023, it is already part of our Constitution.

What the government is proposing now has nothing to do with women’s reservation. This amendment is an attempted power grab using delimitation and gerrymandering.

We will not allow ‘Hissa Chori’ from OBC, Dalit and Adivasi communities by ignoring the caste census data. We will also not allow Southern, North Eastern, North Western and smaller states to be treated unfairly.
