Q6. I know having my own children in my school it helps to see how/what they are taught. Knowing what they have done when helps me make the connections. Vertical Alignment would also be beneficial.

A5b. It's so interesting that students or even people don't see that connection between these two.
With this I might even add, 2.5+.5 is 3, 3+2.2 is 5.2. I could see for some students make whole numbers here might seem easier.

I use single base 10 blocks when starting to solve simple equations with variables on both side. Cups represent an unknown amount of blocks, and the blocks represent 1. Taking cups or blocks off each side of the equation makes more sense visually. #ElemMathChat
Q3. In working with a student who is a recent immigrant with little formal education and language barriers, we have found base 10 blocks have been very helpful in helping represent the operations visually. #ElemMathChat
A2: I would say Cardinality is definitely related, understanding how many out of a certain set of objects/numbers. The skill is still similar 5 objects, so we are looking at 5ths.

No, Howard Schultz. When you fire 120 Starbucks union leaders, shut down pro-union shops & engage in union busting you do not "love" Starbucks workers. If you truly respected the workers at Starbucks, sit down with them and negotiate a fair first contract as the law requires.
A5: Perfection is the enemy of done! You don’t have to be an expert to try new things! Learn WITH your kids and make mistakes with them too! Show them it’s ok to not know and keep exploring! Adventure is out there! #AppleEDUchat
