Thank you Secretary Rollins for the kind words. It was a privilege for me to get to work with the fine people in NRCS. It was a much needed opportunity for me after retirement from the Arkansas Army National Guard. I was able to transition from the military life into the civilian world and achieve a much softer landing than might have been otherwise.
Yesterday was my last day of working for the United States Department of Agriculture/Natural Resources Conservation Service. Today almost the entire government is shutting down. I guess they really couldn’t live without me. ;)
@elonmusk The USPS is becoming less relevant every year. Most mail is junk mail. Cut delivery to maybe once per week and you could downsize the work force accordingly. Since we have a post office in every little town in the US (a building owned by the US Government) you could move local US Government agencies into these buildings and terminate the leases they have.
It’s the National Guards Job to do policing actions in the USA. Each state can call up their Guard Units to assist with this. My understanding is under the “ Posse Comitatus Act” The federal law limits the powers of the federal military personnel to enforce domestic policies within the United States.
I don’t have a problem with Guard Units enforcing a deportation of illegal immigrants.
