I genuinely don’t know where all of this will eventually lead us as a nation. If the rising tensions and the constant reckless narrative are simply because of the combination of the individuals currently occupying the Presidency, then why can’t we just wait and channel our dissatisfaction through the ballot boxes in 2027?

We all clearly remember the events of the 2023 elections. Neither President Tinubu, his Deputy nor the APC built their campaign around religion. They did not tour mosques preaching religious fear. They did not weaponise faith for political gain. Instead, they focused on experiences and regional balance. But Peter Obi, the very candidate many of propagandists supported, went from church to church framing the election as a religious war and busy calling daddies to help him take the message to their congregations.

I genuinely thought that the Tinubu/Shettima ticket would be seen first and foremost as a Yoruba/Kanuri ticket, two ethnic groups coming together to represent national diversity, as people have been preaching that religion should never come before tribe. But now, because that narrative doesn’t fit the current agenda, suddenly everything is reduced to Muslim/Muslim, as their ethnic identities no longer matter.

If we genuinely care about this country, our politics must be guided by truth, not reckless narratives crafted to inflame sentiment. Nigeria deserves better.

We have challenges that we must address, Boko Haram, banditry and terrorism started decades ago under OBJ and successive governments and the defense establishment failed to arrest the situation, now we are faced with the same situation, sadly, many Nigerians are too naive, too emotional and illogical in their thinking, no bright ideas or solutions, just meaninglessness noise and bandwagon zombieism.

It doesn't matter how much you spend on education or how hard you try to educate your child, it is still up to your child to write exams, you cannot not write the exam for your child.

So, it doesn't matter how much money or instructions you give your military leaders to fight terrorism, it is still up to the military to fight and defeat terrorists, not the President, he commands, but fighting terrorists is not his job.

The question is, we've had many failed defense and military leaders, many are retired and living luxurious life with government paid retirement packages, free house, savants, cars, military escorts and security and so on.

Just a week ago, they were fighting over disputed private land in Abuja while the battlefield was burning our troops.

There's something wrong with our military set up from leadership qualities and capabilities to fight terrorism and insurgency, it's as if we burn $3 billion military budget every year for nothing.

What do you need to fight and defeat terrorists?

1. Good intelligence, you must know them, know where they operate and where they sleep at night.

2. You must (now where they get their supplies from and who is supplying them.

3. You must know how they communicate and be about to triangulate and intercept their communications.

4. You must have armed drones of opportunities in the air to strike and eliminate terrorists in real time.

5. You must develop a sound strategy and force protection measures to protect your troops against terrorist attacks.

6. Military formations and bases just have guard towers and sentries, electronic trip wires and motion sensors to detect terrorists movements and your troops must be well armed and supplied better than your enemies.

7. You must have a GPS based distress signal capabilities and 24/7 air cover for ground troops.

The list goes in, but sadly, our military is still all about cock and shoot, in fact, it seems the terrorists are better trained, better equipped and battle ready than our troops.

8 Lastly, we must GPS and protect our long borders.

The entire stretch bof Sambisa and the lake Chad region just be under 24/ surveillance

We have enough drones to take care of this.

The President is responsible at the end of the day, but it is the job of our military leadership and planners to fight and defeat terrorists.

Recruiting 100,00 new troops sounds good, but why not first withdraw the thousands guarding retired generals, government officials and private citizens.
