@JohnBarrowman I don't think I ever met a mother as proud of her son as she was. I mind her voice in my head even now as she talked about you. My heart hurts for you yet I know she is still with you in everything you are because of her. All my love. Gill xxx
@AmesTaylor_DA That worker on the NMW may also be entitled to some housing costs, especially if private renting and paying into a pension from their wages.
Heads up to fellow debt/benefits advisers interested in a new post. Remote working. No targets, no MaPs, great team manager, friendly team. DM me if you want more info. #DebtAdvice https://t.co/lQuVgtuOlc
As a debt adviser, I spend a lot of time on telephone hold to various entities. I think I’m going to compile a horror list of their choice of hold music. What’s the worst hold music you’ve come across?
Fave quote of the day (re grammar), "The term 'Future Perfect' has been abandoned since it was discovered not to be.” Douglas Adams (The Restaurant at the End of the Universe)
Has anyone explained to Trump that the Russians in Ukraine are technically illegal immigrants? Since he's so keen on walls, maybe he can build one between Russia and Ukraine with the Russians on the other side, and demand the Russians pay for it.
Our NHS is not for sale. Trade talks with Trump must not open the door to US healthcare companies profiting from our NHS. Keir Starmer must protect our NHS by keeping it off the table during negotiations.Join me by adding your name to 38 Degrees’ petition: https://t.co/ECjZRcqnbw
@JohnBarrowman@bbcstrictly@marksandspencer They look wonderful. Thanks for testing my resolve to lose weight. I pass the test, I will diminish and fit into my old jeans 😉
At least she's saying that this government (unlike the last one) is willing to listen to charities - but the charity I used to work for has closed because it lost funding and now all charities with employees are hit by the rise in Employer NI. https://t.co/uPw404Vuyp
@MartinSLewis This could save a single person on UC £39 a month, and a couple £62. Better than nothing but benefits are still subsistence level. I've lost count of clients who say "Is that all?" as they face making a paradigm shift in their assumptions.
Some thoughts on Israel-Lebanon-Hezbollah-Iran in our latest podcast below - and why things are escalating in this way.
In particular
• The military success against Hezbollah does not = a political strategy
• Other Arab nations + many Lebanese hate Hezbollah
• BUT many Lebanese who dislike Hezbollah also hate an Israeli ground invasion of Lebanon
• Iran is forced to respond - because it is perceived to have failed to respond to weeks of Israeli attacks in Tehran and Lebanon
• Hence escalation

Research has shown that advice charities save local authorities more than they cost. Sadly, by the time the council rue their choice, even if they backtrack (hah), the advice expertise will have been lost elsewhere. So many advisers I know have quit the sector completely.
My charity will be unable to take on new advice enquiries from the public after 1st October. This is devastating news for our staff, volunteers, partners and, most importantly, the people of Coventry.
