Turkish forces are rolling heavy into Pristina right now — the 65th Mechanized Infantry Brigade, TB2 Bayraktar drones and OMTAS anti-tank missiles — turning Kosovo into a Turkish fortress in the heart of the Balkans on the exact 4th anniversary of the Ukraine invasion.

This is not just another KFOR rotation. Turkey is openly expanding its military footprint where the US used to dominate (Camp Bondsteel and American influence in the region are visibly waning under shifting priorities). Ankara is stepping in as the new sheriff, using NATO cover to build long-term power in what Serbs see as their historic land.

**Is this a threat to Serbia?**
**Yes — absolutely.** Belgrade views every Turkish soldier, drone and missile in Kosovo as direct arming of “Pristina authorities” against Serbian interests. Serbian President Vučić has repeatedly called similar Turkish moves (drones in 2025, etc.) “Ottoman revival” and violations of UN Resolution 1244. It heightens tensions in northern Kosovo and risks new clashes.

**Who else is it a friend to?**
Primarily Kosovo Albanians (strong historical/cultural ties — Turkey is one of Kosovo’s biggest backers of independence). Also benefits the broader Albanian bloc (Albania + Croatia joint exercises with Kosovo) and NATO’s KFOR mission on paper. Not a friend to Serbs or any Slavic side that remembers Ottoman history.

**What does Russia say?**
Russia strongly opposes it. Moscow calls any “remilitarization” of Kosovo destabilizing, supports Serbia fully, and accuses NATO/Turkey of violating UNSCR 1244 (which Russia interprets as keeping Kosovo demilitarized). Russia sees this as another Western/Turkish move to weaken Slavic positions in the Balkans.

**What does the EU say?**
The EU stays mostly silent or supportive — framing it as normal NATO/KFOR reinforcement for “stability.” Brussels focuses on Serbia-Kosovo “normalization” dialogue but never strongly criticizes Turkish contributions (Turkey is a NATO member and EU candidate). No condemnation of the expanded Turkish role.

**Slavic / Eastern European perspective – why this hits home for us:**
While Hungary and Slovakia fight Ukrainian energy blackmail (oil cutoff, pipeline bombings, vetoes on sanctions/€90B loan), Croatia sends equipment only to Ukraine and ignores its neighbors, and Poland’s Tusk regime disarms itself for Kyiv, Turkey quietly builds a military stronghold in Kosovo. This is neo-Ottoman expansion dressed as “peacekeeping” — filling the space America is leaving behind. Serbs, the frontline Slavs in the Balkans, are being surrounded. We’ve seen empires come for our lands before. This cannot end well. Slavs must stay vigilant: no more foreign fortresses on our soil, no more outsiders turning brother against brother. Serbia is not alone — real Eastern unity means watching Turkey’s moves very closely.
