@199406M I'm pretty sure they were, especially if you count the Majestic Subclass. Although they didn't see much action in WW2, many had colorful service histories in other navies. India operated the Hercules until 1997. And the Venerable almost fought against the British at the Falklands
@rpgormley@bestofStarTrek Rouge One was awesome! π
And I would agree simply for the sake of legacy, but unfortunately movies like 2001 and Back to the Future aren't on my list because I haven't seen them yet. π

@MJPetrov There is a data plate fragment from a Pearl Harbor D3A1 in a museum in Zanesville, Ohio. A survivor took it as a trophy. It could have been from one of the 6 Val's Kaga lost that day.
Hanging out, quite literally. During WWII, space aboard Royal Navy escort carriers was at such a premium that Fleet Air Arm crews had to get creative with aircraft storage. So they came up with outrigger parking rails. Aircraft like these Grumman Martlets (F4F Wildcat) would be wheeled right to the edge of the flight deck with their tail gear locked onto narrow rails, leaving the entire tail section hanging out over the sea. It looked absolutely precarious, and it probably was, but it allowed crews to squeeze more fighters onboard. It was a risky but highly effective solution.
Regarding the paint scheme, I chose to go with Ms32-4a from the Atlantic theater. The blending affect was hand painted and based on photos of the ship. However, the final markings were a blend based on both photos and military paint guides from the era.

A fantastic and fun little kit. Although the aircraft selection is a little strange, the ship has all of the trademarks that makes Tamiya a favorite among ship builders. I highly recommend this kit for any allied fleet. π

This is both cool and clever! πIt reminds me of that Scooby Doo epsode where the Ghost of the Red Barron was haunting a random corn farm in the american heartland.
