I am grateful for the recognition, but the real story is not about any individual. It is about the thousands of communities, businesses, schools, and healthcare facilities whose lives are being transformed through access to reliable electricity.
I encourage everyone to take a moment to read these articles and learn more about the work the Rural Electrification Agency is doing under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.
Across the country, public institutions are working every day to deliver measurable impact, and I believe Nigerians should have confidence that meaningful progress is possible when vision, commitment, and execution come together.
The work continues.

Nigeria's energy future will not be determined by the resources we possess, but by our ability to unlock their value through the right policies, investments, partnerships, and innovations.
I was pleased to participate as a panellist at NBCC Energy Day 2026, themed "Energy in Nigeria: From Potential to Reality," where industry leaders, policymakers, investors, and development partners came together to discuss the future of Nigeria's power sector.
During my session, "Catalysing Energy Availability in Nigeria," we explored some of the most pressing questions facing the sector today, from energy access and grid reliability to renewable energy integration, financing, infrastructure development, and the growing role of distributed energy solutions.
One point I emphasized is that the challenge before us is no longer simply about generating electricity. It is about creating the conditions that allow capital, technology, and innovation to flow efficiently into projects that deliver real impact for Nigerians. This is particularly important for underserved and unserved communities where access to reliable electricity can unlock economic growth, improve livelihoods, and create new opportunities.
I also reflected on the transformative impact of recent sector reforms and the importance of continuing to build a policy and regulatory environment that encourages investment, supports innovation, and enables collaboration between public and private sector stakeholders.
The conversations were thoughtful, forward looking, and encouraging. Nigeria has the talent, resources, and entrepreneurial spirit needed to transform its energy landscape. Our task now is to continue working together to turn that potential into reality.

Happy Father’s Day 2026 to all the dads, mentors, and father figures leading with love and strength. Your sacrifices, guidance, and quiet resilience shape families and communities every day. I celebrate men who show up for the next generation with purpose and care.~ #MaudoCAREs.
There are moments when you witness a project and immediately understand that its impact will extend far beyond the site itself.
I had the privilege of accompanying the Honourable Minister of Power for the official handover of 500 hectares of land for the development of a 200MW solar power project that will power Abuja Steel Mills in Niger State.
What makes this project particularly exciting is the scale of ambition behind it. A 200MW solar-powered industrial energy project is not just about generating electricity. It is about creating a model for how renewable energy can directly support industrial growth, local manufacturing, job creation, and economic transformation. It demonstrates that energy access and industrialization are not separate conversations but are deeply connected.
As Nigeria continues to pursue the objectives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, projects like this show what is possible when government creates the right enabling environment and the private sector responds with bold investments. Reliable power remains one of the most important ingredients for industrial competitiveness, and seeing renewable energy positioned at the center of that vision is encouraging.
I was particularly inspired by the level of collaboration on display. The convergence of the power, steel, industry, and investment ecosystems around a common objective reinforces the importance of partnership in achieving sustainable development. The future of Nigeria's economy will be built through this kind of coordinated thinking and execution.
My sincere appreciation goes to the Honourable Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, His Excellency, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State, the Honourable Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, the Honourable Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Owan Enoh, Mr. Raj Gupta and the entire African Industries Group team for their vision and commitment. Together, they are helping to demonstrate how strategic collaboration can unlock investment, strengthen industry, and accelerate Nigeria's journey towards sustainable economic growth.

Nigeria's energy future will not be built solely by deploying renewable energy infrastructure. It will also be built by strengthening our ability to manufacture, assemble, and supply the technologies that power that infrastructure.
That is why I am excited about the Joint Development Agreement (JDA) signed between the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and NASENI-DEVFRONTIER GREEN ENERGY FZE. The partnership establishes a framework for collaboration aimed at strengthening domestic solar manufacturing value chains and advancing Nigeria's renewable energy and industrialization objectives.
As we continue to scale energy access across the country, we must also create opportunities for local manufacturing, job creation, technology transfer, and industrial growth. Through this collaboration, REA will explore opportunities to offtake photovoltaic modules, inverters, and energy storage batteries manufactured or assembled locally by NASENI-DEVFRONTIER GREEN ENERGY FZE and its approved partners.
For me, this is about more than equipment. It is about building a sustainable ecosystem where the growth of renewable energy deployment also drives local industry, creates economic opportunities, and retains more value within Nigeria.
I commend NASENI for its commitment to innovation and industrial development, and I look forward to the opportunities this partnership will unlock as we continue working towards a future powered by clean energy and supported by strong local capacity.

One of the things that excites me most about the Energising Education Programme is that it goes beyond providing electricity. It is about creating the conditions for learning, research, innovation, and national development to thrive.
At Modibbo Adama University, Yola, we are delivering a 5MVA Solar Hybrid Power Plant with a 9MWh Battery Energy Storage System as part of the Energising Education Programme Phase III, funded by the African Development Bank. But what is being built here is much more than a power plant.
Delivered through the collaboration between the Rural Electrification Agency and the Joint Venture of Kobeissi Electrical & Mechanical Engineering Ltd. (KELM Engineering) and ELICOM SARL, this project combines renewable energy infrastructure with smart metering systems, modern distribution networks, smart street lighting, CCTV infrastructure, and a dedicated training school to create a more resilient and sustainable campus environment.
For many institutions across Nigeria, unreliable power has long been a barrier to productivity and innovation. Through interventions like this, we are demonstrating how renewable energy can strengthen our universities, support academic excellence, improve operational efficiency, and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
The future of education must be powered by reliable, sustainable energy. I am proud of the progress being made under EEP Phase III and grateful to our partners at the African Development Bank and the Federal Government of Nigeria for their continued support in turning this vision into reality.
Every solar panel installed, every battery commissioned, and every connection made is an investment in the next generation of Nigerian innovators, researchers, and leaders.

President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has announced plans to build Nigeria’s largest industrial and free trade zone at Olokola, Ondo State, with construction expected to begin in the last quarter of 2026.
The project will provide dedicated power, water, gas, and logistics infrastructure to attract manufacturers and remove major business bottlenecks. It will also include investments in power generation, cement production, and gas infrastructure.
Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa welcomed the investment, describing it as a major step toward Ondo’s industrial transformation. The state government has set up a technical committee to work with Dangote Group and pledged full support for the project, which is expected to create thousands of jobs and boost economic growth across the region.
