I really want to understand the meaning of housing shortage/ deficit in this country, like you have upwards of 100m and there is no house available for you to buy?

2020 — 20.5M units | 21.8%
2023 — 28.0M units | 18.4%

Meanwhile, the rental housing rate fluctuated, rising from 17.9% in 2010 to 21.8% in 2020, before falling to 18.4% in 2023.

A CALL FOR ATTENTION TO PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP
President Donald Trump, I am calling your attention to the situation in Osun State, Nigeria, as we approach the election.
There are growing concerns about tension and the possibility of violence, intimidation, or disruption of the democratic process. Osun people deserve to exercise their constitutional right to vote freely, peacefully, and without fear.
I appeal to the United States and the international community to pay close attention to the election and encourage all relevant authorities to ensure that every voter is protected and every vote is respected.
We do not want bloodshed. We do not want intimidation. We want peace, transparency, and a free and fair election. @realDonaldTrump
14 years ago, Adamawa was receiving N2.8b allocation, while today it receives N16b.
Lets do quick maths:
N2.8B in 2012 could buy you 400,000 bags of rice, while N16B today would buy you 320,000 bags.
N2.8B in 2012 was $18m, while N16B today is $12m.
Under APC, MORE IS LESS!
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo said picking Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as his Vice President was his greatest mistake.
Some hypocrites, ethnic jingoists and people with a poor sense of history might be thinking that Pa OBJ has dropped a quote.
Incidentally, a more factually accurate statement would be that OBJ may not have become President in 1999 without Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
An uniformed person might also get the impression from Pa OBJ's unguarded vituperations that he (OBJ) did Atiku Abubakar a favour in 1999 or even in 2003. Wrong!
On the contrary, the more accurate position, since Baba has taken this route, is that, if anyone, it was actually Atiku Abubakar who did Baba a favour.
Go and verify from your truthful and informed elders.
As a matter of fact, if anyone should be talking about regrets, and unquestionably too, it should be Atiku Abubakar - first regretting supporting Baba while he was incarcerated in Yola prison, then helping to rehabilitate him after leaving prison, abandoning the Adamawa governorship seat he already won, placing his political and financial war chest at Baba's disposal (from the PDP presidential primaries till he (Pa OBJ) won the general election and became civilian president), and finally, not 'finishing off' Baba politically in 2003 when he (Atiku) literally had all the then PDP Governors on his side and at his command and massively influential and popular amongst Nigerians across the board, as a true and brave democrat.
Incidentally, Atiku has never really done or said such, which speaks to his sense of maturity, humility, modesty and decency.
Someone close to Baba should remind him that not all of us have attenuated memories or memories controlled by tribe, time and tide.
Sadly, I'm actually tempted to begin to believe what some people say about ingratitude and betrayal being tribally inherited to be true, but I'm still observing.
You people have brought this careless talk from IG to X.
People that cannot contribute anything to the value chain will be in the comments yapping and saying a lot of rubbish.
Modern Nigerian real estate is ugly, very ugly. They all look the same with slices of windows and are horribly overpriced. No creativity at all, zero thoughts on ventilation, zero attention to our hot climate just white boxes with tags like exclusive, executive and luxury.
The FG should allow Chinese & Indian Cement into Nigeria
One of the reasons houses are expensive is because of Dangote and other building material dealers
Open up the cement and building materials up to the Chinese and watch 6 million Naira build an affordable house

There is a real and important debate happening around the proposed Dangote Refinery in Lamu.
For many people, the first reaction is understandable: this looks like development for the people of Lamu and Kenya. Thousands of jobs. Big investment. National attention. A project of this scale naturally sounds like progress.
But before anyone rushes to applause, there are some very serious questions that still need clear answers.
First, where exactly will the 5,000 acres of land come from? Will it be acquired peacefully? Will communities be consulted properly? Will any families, farmers, or local land users be displaced in the process? These are not small details. They go to the heart of whether this project uplifts people or uproots them.
Then there is the environmental cost.
Lamu is not empty land waiting to be “developed.” It is a living coastal ecosystem. Mangroves are nature’s coastal bodyguards. They hold the shoreline together, cradle fish nurseries, trap carbon, and shield communities from storms and flooding. Coral reefs and seagrass beds are the underwater engine room of the coast. They feed fisheries, support marine life, and keep the ocean alive. Damage to these systems is not cosmetic. It can be irreversible, and when they are gone, the economic loss goes far beyond the environment.
And then there is the ocean.
A refinery in a sensitive coastal area raises serious questions about dredging, tanker movement, spill risk, runoff, pollution, and long-term contamination. If oil or industrial waste gets into the water, the sea does not keep it neatly in one place. It spreads. It seeps into food chains. It hits fish, livelihoods, public health, and the future all at once.
Then there is the jobs story, which needs to be handled honestly.
Yes, people need work. But experience from similar mega-projects in Africa shows that many of the highly skilled jobs go to foreign experts and contractors, while local people are often left with temporary, casual, low-paying roles.
That is not a new pattern. In Lekki, Nigeria, where Dangote built his first refinery and industrial complex, communities have continued to raise concerns about displacement, loss of fishing access, environmental damage, and the gap between the promises of prosperity and the reality experienced on the ground.
That is why people are asking whether Lamu is about to face the same pattern: big promises upfront, but unresolved social and environmental grievances later.
So the real issue is not whether people support development. Of course they do. The real question is whether this project, in this place, with these risks, truly improves the economic well-being and quality of life of the people it claims to serve.
Because that is what development is supposed to mean.
It should build opportunity without bulldozing communities.
It should create jobs without shrinking livelihoods.
It should lift people without sinking the coast.
So the question is simple: will this project genuinely improve the well-being and quality of life of the people of Lamu, or will it leave behind displacement, ecological damage, and long-term costs that cannot be reversed?
That is the question we should all be asking.
I don’t think this has anything to do with the FCT minister, earnings are just not matching market reality. It’s an economic problem, landlords also need to survive and recoup their investment. How much is a bag of cement/rice.
Why is the FCT minister not doing anything about the rate at which landlords are increasing house rents in Abuja? These guys are moving with unchecked powers.

When a suspect on bail disappears, the bail is broken. Adeyemi violated his bail conditions by holding a press conference that contradicted his police statement. The police are now entitled to re-arrest him. They cannot find him.
Arresting a family member to pressure a fugitive to surface is legally contested, but not arbitrary. If the police believe the father knows where his son is, he is a material witness at a minimum.
He is due in court in three weeks and cannot be found.
