@nuggienugs555 I'm either larping, or I've been with SW long to be annoyed at seeing another "those darn imperials tricked me again" kinds of stories
I saw RotS in theaters as a kid, I've seen this exact idea play out 10000 times now, is a tiny bit of variety to much to ask?
This is how I find out Zero Company makes you switch sides to fight the Imperials, again, somehow. Its like BF2 (2005) was allowed one good story and suddenly every SW game plot after just has to eat shit before the finish line.
@MrCupofFail Force Unleashed: Betrayal plot
Like, innumerable comic book/Eu plots that I can't listen.
KOTOR: by a very technical margin, is betrayed main character plot of the same type.
Its just an overplayed trope, seen it before and we'll see it again I'm sure.
@MrCupofFail Its fairly common Star Wars trope, heres a fun list from memory:
Han Solo is a former Imperial
Kyle Katarn: former Imperial
Porkins: former Imperial (yes really)
Bad Batch follows an Imperial betrayal plot
BF2 (EA edition) follows an Imperial turncoat plot
@TokarevEnjoyer@ZeroC0mpany Not to shit on Mass Effect but it too was known for having choices that don't matter. So I guess that would technically be an accurate description
@drezzyscot I've played Xcom for a while, I was never any good at UFO Defense but I was kid back then so cut me some slack.
I got into Long War a few years ago and it made me pick up Terra Invicta, fun times all around
@getchude I wasn't gonna play it, the idea is all that frustrates me. I want my SW quota filled I'll boot up Empire at War or Rogue Squadron 3 again.
Or Xcom I guess, I'm overdue for another Long War campaign
@Oofwav3 Imperial Commado was real and it got canned like so many other projects which sucks since RC is one of most evocative Star Wars games there is. They set it up perfectly with the first game's ending and then it just got lost along the way.
What a shame
@Hick324 I'm not trying to spoil anything I'm sorry. That's just social media being worthless as per usual.
Everytime a new Fromsoft game comes out I know half the bosses before I see them because YT thumbnail makers can't help themselves
@GeneralViktor1 Thats what I'm saying, they wrote this idea from the start and its missing so many more avenues that haven't been tried. It hurts so much to watch a game waste potential regardless of if its good or not.
@Denit41 I used to dislike binary morality systems in games but at this point I'm jonesing for a hit of variety. I don't pick bad guy options most of the time, but the devs at least using it to say "look, you do actually have a choice" is so important its crazy
@SleepySteve11@Armafala I've smoked as many Stormtroopers in my life as I have every other video game badguy, I think SW can shoot for so much more. The variety of older titles like Bounty Hunter, Starfighter and especially KOTOR shows off what a lot of the new stuff misses out on so badly.
@SleepySteve11@Armafala No, I just think most SW plots/settings don't do anything interesting or fun anymore. If the Empire is gonna be our actual big bad then go for a pre New Hope rebel story so you can go wild with ideas instead of limiting yourself to Clone Wars but with a rebel but at the end
@SleepySteve11@Armafala A straight up Clone focused X-Com game would have been far better (and more popular since people clone stuff up usually). It straying away from Xcom like it does is what stops me from playing it.
These fellas ain't been on The Long War streets, they don't know what they missing
@KingKin38374080@drunklibshill It'd be a pretty interesting idea so I guess so yea. There's a lot to work with there that hasn't been touched upon compared to the more copy and paste Clone Wars plots you tend to see.
@KillenDillon@ZeroC0mpany Exactly, so many modern Clone Wars plotlines feel the need to include Order 66 when they don't have to. You're not gonna be that one Dark Horse comic that actually does anything interesting with it, you can just stop before the clones star blasting and it'll be fine.
@Armafala Which sucks, what an obvious idea for a plot that's been done to death. We couldn't bridge the gap between the hyper professionalism of Republic Commando and the extremely overplayed "misfit band of heroes no one likes" trope? It's just wasted potential.
@drunklibshill I'll have you know I'm an unironic Separatist enjoyer because battledroids are just the coolest. I'm Dooku's top guy, he's asking me to help lead the revolution and I'm there for him dawg. I'd crash Zero Company from the inside if I could.
