I am journalist Omar Abd Rabou from Gaza.
A full year has passed since I was abducted by Hamas and subjected to severe and brutal torture. The same ordeal was repeated again a short time later. To this day, I continue to suffer from the physical and psychological consequences of that violence.
I am unable to freely express my personal views because they conflict with the prevailing extremist ideology, placing my safety at risk.
I urgently need evacuation from Gaza to access safety, recovery, and the freedom to speak without fear. My situation is becoming increasingly unbearable, and I appeal to all concerned organizations and individuals to help facilitate my evacuation.
@iBenGray@DanNeidle Sorry, I miss read the table. But yes bigger businesses in terms of employees will tend to make more things, pay more tax and of course employ more people. Japan, the US and Germany 3 of the 4 biggest economies in the world lean towards big businesses.
they did kill jesus like, i hate to repeat that one tumblr post but they very famously Did Kill Jesus that's the entire point of the second half of the bible
@iBenGray@DanNeidle More people working for a company normally means it is bigger. WhatsApp might have had a small staff, but most businesses need more people to make/do more. This data shows the current system is limiting the size of UK businesses.
Congratulations to Eritrea on being elected to the powerful U.N. Economic and Social Council.
Eritrea's credentials:
🇪🇷 No elections
🇪🇷 Rape and torture
🇪🇷 Religious persecution
🇪🇷 Forced labor and slavery
🇪🇷 Jails critics and journalists
🇪🇷 Known as “the North Korea of Africa”
The UK has twice as many taxes as it had in 1993.
Not twice as much tax. Twice as many taxes.
Yes, we pay a bit more tax, but tax has got a whole lot more complicated. Time to reverse that.
It's bonkers that this argument even has to be made. The idea that there can be an armed group that basically controls a country's foreign policy and drags it into wars is unacceptable.

37 years ago the Chinese army killed large numbers of people in Beijing and elsewhere when it cracked down on student protests. I was there and saw it happen myself. Nowadays China tries to claim the Tiananmen massacre was invented by the international media. That’s a total lie.
Every sign at this refinery in Ireland is in russian. The official website is a .RU domain.
There’s no reason to hide it because local politicians are openly doing it for them.
Reporting from the Financial Times on Xinjiang remains incredibly grim:
* In some areas, 90% of children are taken from parents to be educated in boarding schools where they aren't allowed to speak Uyghur
* Officials monitor who eats during Ramadan and report those who skip meals
* Basic items like prayer mats and religious text are considered illegal contraband
* Adult Uyghur women are pressured to marry Han Chinese men, and there are official goals to sterilize a certain % of them.
* Xinjiang has the largest prison capacity in the world relative to population
* Huge numbers of Uyghur prisoners are now being shipped across the country in forced labor schemes, as a way to dodge Xinjiang sanctions/boycotts
* The CCP shut down all 10 existing Uyghur-language publishers, none remain. They fed one university's book collection into a shredder.
There's a lot going on the world, but it's worth remembering that China is still actively engaged in cultural genocide. They're barely even hiding it, they openly talk about the need to 'correct' Uyghur culture and create 'ethnic unity'. They are openly destroying an entire culture as efficiently as they can, cutting children off from parents, restricting language, restricting religious practice, forcing sterilizations and intermarriage, imprisoning anyone who resists the tiniest amount and shipping them out to forced labor factories. That is what the CCP is.
