History was made on July 20, 1969, when Apollo 11's Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first to set foot on the Moon.

For more than 5 decades, the total number of moonwalkers has remained at 12. NASA will change that with Artemis IV.

#OTD: Sixty-two years ago today, on July 2, 1964, #PresidentJohnson signed the #CivilRightsAct into law. The legislation:

▪️ Prohibited discrimination based on race, color, sex, religion, and national origin
▪️ Desegregated public facilities and schools
▪️ Created the @USEEOC

On July 2, 1776, delegates for the 13 American colonies voted to approve a resolution submitted by Richard Henry Lee announcing "That these United Colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent States, that they are absolved from all allegiance to the British Crown." With the vote complete, Congress began editing Thomas Jefferson's draft of the Declaration of Independence, getting ready to announce the decision to the world.
