Currently making huge revisions to my and my brother's #Tolkien-based role-playing game @ArdaMarred. After some heavy brainstorming we got some good ideas and the new core mechanic feels strong. Hoping to play this summer, but let's see.
@TolkienSociety Without these movies, I don't think I'd have become the huge Tolkien fan that I became. But I am careful to point out that I read both LotR and The Silm before - but it was because these movies were released that I decided correctly to read the books before watching the movies
However, I will now stray off the path of Tolkien and venture out onto the writings of another author (sacrilege!), but I will find my way back to it in December or early next year.
Have finally finished 2nd volume of The Collected Poems. Was hoping for more insights into poems that are directly connected to #Tolkien's M-e mythology and even poems of that sort that had never been printed before, but felt there was quite little of that
There were more examples of poems that started off as not being part of the mythology but were later adjusted to fit in, such as Errantry. Oh well, since it contains the latest poems chronologically, volume 3 should be the most interesting one...
Have received The #Bovadium Fragments, but not sure when I will have time for it - still in the middle of The Collected Poems, and I might soon have to turn to some non-#Tolkien literature as well...
But found it surprising some poems that ended up in Adventures of #TomBombadil didnt have connection to #Middleearth at first and were written 45 years before. #Tolkien altered placenames and revised them tiny bit and then they'd been "converted" and were ready for publication!
Have now finished 1st volume of The Collected Poems. Admit didn't read through most carefully because am mainly interested in those that have directly to do with his #Middleearth mythology, and in this vol there were several that didnt even contain any fantasy elements whatsoever
