WATCH: Wednesday’s ‘CBS Mornings’ opened with 78 seconds addressing the decision by editor-in-chief Bari Weiss and new ‘60 Minutes’ executive producer Nick Bilton to fire Scott Pelley for insubordination...
Vladimir Duthiers: “All right, before we get to the news this morning, we want to share with you some news about ourselves and long-time 60 Minutes correspondent, Scott Pelley. On Monday, new executive producer Nick Bilton called an all-hands meeting to introduce himself to the staff. That meeting became contentious when Pelley publicly questioned the management decisions regarding the replacement of the former 60 Minutes executive producer, Tanya Simon, and publicly criticized the decisions of CBS News management on the future direction of 60 Minutes. According to CBS News management, efforts were made to see if both sides could reach common ground. Pelley met with senior management of CBS News last night, and no agreement could be reached. Pelley was then informed by 60 Minutes executive producer Nick Bilton that CBS News and 60 Minutes would have to part ways with Scott. He was terminated for cause. Scott Pelley released a statement which expressed his ‘gratitude for the men and women of CBS News who encouraged and enriched my work very often at the risk of their own lives.’ Pelley went on to say, ‘I pray for a day when those people and their ideals are honored again, a day when sanity, competence, and courage return.’ In a letter to the staff, Bilton stated, ‘What I will commit to this is this: my unyielding support for each of you and the journalism that you do and what we will do together going forward.’”
Nate Burleson: “Yeah, we know his impact on journalism and this network is undeniable.”
Scott Baio: good guy.
Patricia Heaton: salt of the Earth.
Kevin Sorbo: also, good guy.
Roseanne Barr: was only funny one on the show with her name on it; got fired because she likes Trump.
Tony Hinchcliffe: freaking hilarious.
Again, other than Tate, who sucks and should be shunned, would totally watch this show.
Soon:
“I’m Scott Baio.”
“I’m Patricia Heaton.”
“I’m Kevin Sorbo.”
“I’m Roseanne Barr.”
“I’m Andrew Tate. Those stories, plus Tony Hinchcliffe, tonight on 60 Minutes.”
@TPCarney I always thought Peter Jennings was the ne plus ultra of anchormen.
And people talk about his 9/11 performance as being the standard of live news coverage.
(I'll never forget NYE 2000. That was a hoot.)
Folks like this would prefer we contract to the Original Six.
I think the current NHL *does* need to tweak its playoffs so they just have top 8 in the conference with the division winners being top 3, but, other than that, it's been a great playoffs.
The NHL completely ruined the league with expansion teams
Hurricanes and Golden Knights: two teams whose history began in 1997 and 2017 have made 6 Stanley Cup Finals with 2 wins between them and another coming this year
The league has failed its traditional franchises
I had a(nother) colleague quit, and she sent me the nicest note to say goodbye.
“Hi Courtney,
I just wanted to let you know how much I’ve loved working with you. Your kindness, energy and that laugh of yours in Zoom always made my day. Seriously, it’s impossible not to smile when you’re around, even virtually.”
Someone’s chopping onions in here 🩷
He’s the President of the United States — not your ex, not your personal villain, and not the cause of your misery. You don’t have to support him. That’s America.
But if someone is simply backing the sitting President and it makes you rage, cut people off, attack families, or act like garbage — you are the problem.
You’ve turned politics into a personality disorder: nonstop outrage and toddler meltdowns online. Grow up. He won. The sky didn’t fall. Pay your bills, care for your family, touch grass, and move on.
@Benedicta_Bee Here's the thing: the Democratic Industrial Complex isn't ready just yet, having underestimated Pratt's appeal.
The voting chicanery will come into play in November; plus, this way, there's a chance to actually get big donors to spend on the Democratic Industrial Complex.
It's time for Scott Pelley to work somewhere that will appreciate his talent (for grandstanding, self-assured asshattery, and making it all about him).
I’m in Italy on vacation but my heart and soul are with my former colleagues at 60 Minutes, in particular as I wake to the news that @ScottPelley is no longer the fearless guardian of what distinguished our show for 58 years. I’m sick beyond belief.
