In 1996, an unidentified 8-year-old boy slipped away from his mother, climbed over a barrier, and fell into the Gorilla Enclosure.
Due to the 20 ft fall, the boy broke his hand and suffered a deep laceration to his face. Seven gorillas inhabited the enclosure. Gorillas are known to be fiercely territorial animals.
They will fight to the death to defend their families. However, one of the gorillas, called Binti Jua, meaning “daughter of sunshine” went over to the boy and cradled him in her arms, all while her own young child was on her back.
She then went over to the edge of the enclosure and waited for the zookeepers to come and collect the child.
Binti handed the child over peacefully before returning to the rest of the gorillas. Binti received worldwide praise and received regular treats for the next few weeks.
The boy and the mother have never been identified, but the boy did stay in a hospital for 4 days.
Animal behavioral experts claim Binti used her maternal instincts to look after the child. This may have been influenced by the fact that she had her own baby Gorilla with her at the time.
For over twenty years, numerous mountaineers ascending Mount Everest have encountered "Green Boots," a deceased climber who lost his life near the summit in 1996.
Presently, the presence of Green Boots' body serves as a grim milestone for climbers, indicating their proximity to the summit.
Despite ongoing uncertainty about Green Boots' identity, his remains are among several that tragically mark the route to the top of the world's highest and most perilous mountain.
@fasc1nate Based on the true story of the 1996 Mount Everest disaster, where two expeditions to the Everest summit led by climbers Rob Hall and Scott Fischer ended in tragedy.
@fasc1nate Over 200 bodies rest along the routes to the summit of Mount Everest, left frozen in time and unable to be retrieved due to the harsh conditions. Some of the bodies are even used as landmarks. One of the oldest bodies, with pale white skin, has been there since 1924.

No. Sorry. They are not “collateral damage” they are human beings who happen to have been born there and live there and most of those human beings are stuck there. Have some compassion, they are Palestinians not buildings or roads or things, they are human beings and so are the hostages whose lives you may also be destroying. They aren’t “collateral damage” either.
