Arepas are delicious cornmeal flour patties can be grilled or fried. Sliced in half then stuffed with savory meats, cheeses or vegetables!! L❤️ve Arepas!
Beautiful day for cycling and lunch on the patio of @ArepaMia. We did a lot snacking on the ride and split a Cachapa, which is like a pancake, but made with sweet corn, then folded and filled with shredded meat vegetables, plus a fried empanada filled with guava paste for dessert. It’s a good thing that we don’t live closer 😉
Ride was mostly the route below, with cuts through downtown Atlanta on a bike path, goes north through Tuxedo Park, meanders through Brookhaven and Silver Lake, comes down Path 400, then has a gravel section through Lullwater Park before wandering through some neighborhoods to pop out at Arepa Mia.
My @wahoofitness Element Bolt is roughly seven years old and was no longer holding a charge. I checked into replacing the battery, and that was more hassle than I wanted to deal with, so we detoured by the Specialized store near our house to pick up a new Bolt V2. Getting it set up was super easy—the iPhone app transferred over all the settings, Strava synchronization, and the like.

@ArepaMia had a banger of a special today: ribeye arepas! We were both feeling pretty beat up by the time we got there, and it made for a very nice reward 😉
The battery on the @wahoofitness Bolt that I’ve been using for many years ago was no longer holding a charge, and replacing it looked exceedingly difficult, so I grabbed the current model not knowing what to expect. It has a color screen instead of monochrome that’s much easier to read under different lighting conditions. It also understands streets instead of seeing the route as a trail of breadcrumbs that you’re either on or off. This lets it alert you to upcoming turns, which is awfully handy if you’re looking around and enjoy enjoying the scenery. The top LEDs also flash to indicate whether you’re turning left or right. If you do go off route, the computer will calculate and display how you can get back onto it. This is really handy if you divert to check out a side street. I should’ve grabbed one of these when they first came out!
Today’s ride got interesting when the chain dropped off my front chainring while rapidly changing gears and ended up with a bent link. I used a pair of Allen wrenches to somewhat straighten out the link and get the chain somewhat functional again. We were fortunately near @PeachtreeBikes and they were able to better straighten the link with a two sets of pliers. The rest of the ride went fine, and we didn’t have to bail on lunch at @ArepaMia, but it’s time for a new chain.
