This #FlasbackFriday we recall the schism between the sons of Ragnar following their campaign in East Anglia. Having sacked York, Ivar the Boneless took command of the Viking horde to wage war on the Saxons, driving out his brother Ubbe for seeking peace with their enemy.
Two bloody battles followed in which warriors sent their own brethren to the gates of Valhalla. Fortified by Frankish reinforcements sent by Duke Rollo, Ivar’s army forced Lagertha, Bjorn, and Ubbe to retreat and flea the city of Kattegat, leaving Ivar to declare himself king.
