@kat__writes There’s actually a whole book about this. It’s been years since I read it so I don’t remember all the details, but I do remember they were sitting around trying to figure out what to do with season 3 and no one had any ideas until someone wrote “PACEY KISSES JOEY” on the board
@tolyuhh I totally agree, but you just reminded me of how once in college i went to the top floor of the library and sat in a chair tucked in the far back corner and put headphones on to study. Later a blind guy literally tripped and fell on me. I don’t know which of us was more surprised
@muaddibstyle Syril is actually my favorite character in Andor specifically because of how perfectly they depicted him as a pathetic power hungry fascist bootlicker loser without giving into the temptation to give him any kind of redemption arc. The real world is full of Syrils
@savmuses Yeah, it’s sort of a weird distinction. Because it really isn’t ABOUT football, but football is still woven into the very fiber of the show. My go to comparisons are usually that it’s “about” football the same way one tree hill is about basketball or mad men is about advertising
@EmmaTolkin Five minutes seems like such a small amount of time to be saying this about too. I mean, jesus, I cried in my bed for like an hour after that video of Tiny Chef finding out his show was canceled. Five minutes is nothing
@LordBenne As a Cowboys fan who has always loved soccer too, it’s hilarious to watch family complain about the VAR offside graphics as if we didn’t all once watch an NFL game where the ref wiggled a literal index card between the ball and the marker to determine if it was a first down
@AlsoPestiEsti@FPLProp I mean, the Qatar/Switzerland game today literally was a noon game in its own time zone. And just glancing at the schedule for the next week or so, the first game for almost every day starts at or before noon depending on the time zone it’s being played in
@stridieder walking around my house topless and in sweatpants was actually the thing that made me suddenly recognize the gender envy from that scene of ilya. I think those things are stereotypically “boy coded” but i don’t think that means girls don’t also do them all the time
@stridieder I actually completely agree with you. I don’t think there’s a problem with it at all. This is one snippet of a larger conversation we had, but we were talking about this exact thing. I’m a cis girl too, and i sometimes put my hand in my pants (or my bra) while sitting around and
@wisetruecorrect Every time i rewatch friday night lights, i have to mentally prepare myself for season two and then i remember all over again in real time that it’s actually not so bad. It’s easily the worst season, but a friday night lights operating at like 75% is still better than most shows
@benkindelegg In january i turned on the tv for background noise while cleaning just as a game between boston and new york was starting. I laughed a little because it was those teams specifically, and then had to keep stopping to laugh more as the score somehow ended up being 10-2
@ruinmeruinus_ this is why i no longer gaf about being insufferably pretentious we have to balance these people out. im sorry for the reasonable people on the middle of the spectrum but i will be yanking the pendulum the other way. duck
