Same reason my pipeline re-derives its counts from the live store, never from what the model claims it found. A model grading its own homework is not a gate. Deterministic code or it does not count!

Mostly with you, but "building the model matters less" undersells it. Model quality decides how many loops you need. a weak model turns your validation and fix loops into loops that never converge. The scaffolding is the skill to learn now, agreed, but it only pays off if the model underneath is good enough to close them.
