@PhillyH2O@PhillyH2O we are still having flooding issues from the paved over storm drains on west mount pleasant and Cresheim. Has there been any movement on this drainage committee? We have flooded multiple times in the past few weeks
@PhillyH2O Storm drains are flooding at Mt Pleasant & Cresheim Rd!! All that extra stormwater flooded my basement. I’ve called the Water Emergency hotline about this issue multiple times and nothing has happened. Please help!!
@cindybassphilly@cindybassphilly this is one of the storm drains that is completely paved over and therefore takes no water. This is dangerous for cars and has resulted in our basement flooding multiple times. This is on the corner of West Mt Pleasant and Cresheim Road. Please help!!
@PhillyH2O@PhillyH2O@cindybassphilly two years later and we are still dealing with the same issue. Our basement flooded last night because the storm drains are not taking in water. Please help.
This CR is a major mistake. Here are my thoughts on this important night.
Donald Trump and his Republican enablers caused the shutdown. And even more egregiously, Trump has gone out of his way to make it worse, most recently by illegally trying to use hungry kids as leverage to compel Democrats into submission. He is hurting people in order to enrich himself, destroy our democracy, and stay in power forever. His actions over the past month confirm this.
Bullies gain power when their misconduct succeeds in causing righteous people to yield in the face of their wrongdoing. That’s why voting for Trump's continuing resolution - without any protection against his health care cuts or his growing illegality - is a mistake.
Last Tuesday, people poured out of their homes and to the polls to reject Donald Trump, but also to urge Democrats to hold firm in our refusal to vote for a short term budget that throws millions of their health care and allows Trump’s corruption to continue, fully funded and unabated.
People know the government shutdown hurts. But people also know that Americans will die when millions cannot afford health insurance next year because of Trump’s massive premium hikes. They wanted us to continue that fight, even knowing that victory was not certain. And 7 million people rushed to the streets last month because they did not want allies of democracy to vote for a budget that puts no significant checks on Trump’s increasing authoritarian behavior. They did not want this outcome.
I understand my colleagues' desire to fund the government. What Trump has put people through these last few weeks is abhorrent. Of course I want to end the shutdown too. But not at any cost.
Standing up to a tyrant who is willing to impose pain in order to compel loyalty or capitulation is hard. Especially for people of good heart who never want to see people suffer. But there is no path to saving our democracy that doesn’t involve hard choices - some that involve enduring pain in the service of proving the demagogue's bullying tactics do not work.
Republicans have said they will discuss putting off the premium increases they set in motion once the government opens. If it does open, I hope they are true to their word. If they are not, and millions suffer as their health care costs double - all to finance a giant tax cut for billionaires and corporations - voters will know who to blame. Despite my deep disappointment at this deal, make no mistake - the evil that is about to be done on families with sick kids and high medical bills lays solely at the feet of Donald Trump and his Republican enablers.
This will not be the last test put to the defenders of democracy. There is no way to sugarcoat this moment. It will have a cost. But it is up to us to keep the fight going. There will likely be even bigger, more consequential moments ahead of us - more chances to stand together against this growing totalitarian inhumanity. The fight isn’t over - by any stretch.

An internal Social Security Administration memo, dated March 13, lays out a plan to sabotage the agency.
The memo itself predicts "service disruption," "operational strain," and "budget shortfalls" will result.

There is a young man in jail today for protesting at his college. No charges. No criminal conduct. In dictatorships, they call this “a disappearance”.
I want to tell you why this case should matter to you, even if you strongly disagree with what he said or did.
I couldn't respond to every fool who defended the electoral college here... but I tried.
I don't expect you EC defenders to be great at reading but on the off chance you are, I have explained why you are wrong.

@cindybassphilly@PhillyH2O@cindybassphilly Please let me know if there are any updates regarding the storm drain issue on Mt Pleasant. We are supposed to get a good amount of rain tomorrow and I don’t want my basement to flood yet again.
Today, Celine Dion’s management team and her record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., became aware of the unauthorized usage of the video, recording, musical performance, and likeness of Celine Dion singing “My Heart Will Go On” at a Donald Trump / JD Vance campaign rally in Montana.
In no way is this use authorized, and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use.
…And really, THAT song?
@cindybassphilly Hello, I am not home but I saw someone respond to my post regarding the flooding at Mt. Pleasant and Creishem. Just wanted to see if there was any update regarding the storm drains. I really appreciate your help in working to resolve this issue!!
@PhillyH2O At 36 and 58 seconds you will see the uphill inlets that are receiving little if any stormwater runoff. At 1:24 (this one is working like a champ!) and 1:30 you will see the downstream inlets.
@PhillyH2O Thank you! An inlet cleaning will definitely help. Unfortunately that’s not the main issue. The water does not actually flow into the inlets. It flows right past them, which forces 1 storm drain downhill to deal with 3 storm drains worth of water. I can send a video if needed.
