Today is the last day for Member States to submit a revised contribution to the 2030 EU energy efficiency target from those in their draft #NECP updates!
This is the basis to trigger, if needed, the ambition gap mechanism!

❓Do EU countries correctly integrate the new #EED in their draft #NECP updates?
📢Our NEW Report finds that no plan, out of the 15 submitted, is fully compliant with the new #EED requirements👇
💪Lots of work to turn this map green!

Stay tuned for the publication of the report in the next weeks!
The decisive decade for energy efficiency
Arianna Vitali Roscini, Secretary General for The Coalition for Energy Savings, writes in our latest edition

The EU has now a 2030 EU energy efficiency target of 11.7%.
In their #NECPs, Member States must plan more policies, measures and investments, to achieve it.

📋Full day internal workshop yesterday… we were too busy with disconnecting, reconnecting, strategising and prioritising to tweet!
Thank you all for the great ideas and good atmosphere!

The European Union struck a deal on Friday to cut final energy consumption across the bloc by 11.7% by 2030, a goal lawmakers said would help fight climate change and curb Europe's use of Russian fossil fuels. https://t.co/OidEHsBI42
🙂 After almost two years from the publication of the proposal and 16 hours trilogue, the EU has a brand new EED.
☹️As it is often the case, the Council has put the brakes on ambition and good delivery.
Deal! After 16 hours of negotiations we agreed on a new Energy Efficiency Directive. The 2030 target is 11,7 % and the yearly energy saving obligation for EU countries will be nearly 1,5 %. This will mean real change for the benefit of the climate and disadvantage of Putin☺️
Today at 2PM the #EED open-ended trilogue starts.
A decent deal must include:
🎯An ambitious and enforceable 2030 EE target.
📉No dilution of the Energy Savings Obligation.
🏦A public sector that acts fast to save energy.
Tomorrow (last?) #EED trilogue!
The higher the 2030 energy efficiency target, the greater the benefits for the EU!
But ambition should go hand in hand with enforceability to ensure benefits will materialize.

This Thursday, policymakers will have their final discussion on the #energyefficiency Directive
Raising the ambition level and commitment for the #EED can reduce our dependence on #fossilfuels and ensure a energy secure, safer future🇪🇺

@KiraTaylor15 - 9th of March: trilogue on the Energy Efficiency Directive (possibly the last one if Council does not remain stuck on its General Approach)
We fully agree!
A strong #EED can bring many benefits to citizens and businesses and support the alleviation of energy poverty.
France should be leading on ambitious efficiency policies and ensure the @EUCouncil backs a strong final EED deal!
