“Bailão bills herself as a pragmatic centrist. We believe she could be trusted to lead the city sensibly, bridging the left and right factions on council to achieve progress on the city’s challenges.”

Refugees are good for Canada 🇨🇦!
The past 30 years show that welcoming #refugees create opportunities for economic, civic and social growth. The diversity of experiences and ideas refugees bring spurs creativity and innovation. 💡

As day 1 of the #MIRPS Support Platform Signature Event comes to a close — I am excited by the amount of knowledge sharing and lessons learned on resettlement policy and processing, and complementary pathways.
Looking forward to seeing what the rest of the event brings!
Karine Jean-Pierre has been named White House press secretary. She will be the first Black woman and the first openly gay person to serve in the role. https://t.co/1HIvotvtM6
« Small acts of kindness, even to people you will never see again, can change the world. »
Grateful to @TareqHadhad for joining us @UNHCRCanada’s special event tonight. His story exemplifies the loss, the courage and perseverance of refugees.
This year I was lucky enough to work as one of four editors for the inaugural Perspectives on Gender, Equity, and Politics journal. Incredibly proud and happy to say that our first publication is now openly accessible online!

Canada has a proud history of welcoming refugees from the around the 🌎
Alongside @FillipoGrandi, I joined leaders from other nations and international organizations to launch the Global Task Force on Refugee Labour Mobility, which Canada will lead for the first 2 years.
In honour of #IWD, UNHCR & IOM are thrilled to join 🇨🇦 in launching a new project in support of women and girls displaced from their homes in Northern Central America.

On today’s Daily: 1.5 million Ukrainians have fled their country over the past 10 days, the fastest displacement of people in Europe since WWII. @stavernise followed the tide of humanity toward the border, capturing it as only she can. https://t.co/uJwl7WmAfc
At the Polish/Ukrainian border I was impressed by the outpouring of solidarity by communities through Poland in support of refugees: many volunteers in action, and piles of donations everywhere, all effectively organized by border guards and local authorities.
UNHCR latest count is 520,000 people forced to flee to neighboring countries - at least half to Poland.
This video from @omarsachedina shows us the situation at that border.
I have requested an Emergency Debate in Parliament.
The country is in crisis.
PM Trudeau must show leadership and work on a plan to end convoy blockades, save our health care system on the brink, and get Canadians through to the end of this pandemic.
