me: *makes efforts to advance, belong, exercise independence & self-determination, set boundaries*
society: "No, you are too disabled & dysfunctional!"
me: *attempts to reach out for necessary help/support/benefits/services*
society: "No, you are competent & high-functioning!"
as a disabled person, I struggle with the reality that I have to effectively advocate for myself in order to get the services/support I need- but if I self-advocate "too well" then I'm seen as competent, too "high-functioning" & thus (allegedly) don't require any assistance/help.
For over a week I had no internet, no signal, no live TV. It was absolutely magnificent and 10 mins on Twitter has reiterated my desire to let the wolves devour each other whilst I build a beautiful life out of the ashes I left behind.

โฆhereโs not to say there are things Iโm doing now Iโll look back on and feel the same BUT
One step at a time.
The difference this time is I know I can do it.
Whatever it is.
One of my personal milestones is looking back a year and things then I ACTIVELY BELIEVED werenโt a problem, were in fact, most definitely a problem.
Recovery is w i l d.
