@mhdksafa I used to be terrified of being scammed, but if I allow myself to be scammed while trying to help someone, I have only lost money. If I refuse to help someone in genuine need for fear of being scammed I will have lost my sense of charity. You did the right thing.
I love both therapy and Martial Arts. But when people joke about “punching people being cheaper than therapy” it genuinely confuses me? Like? Which martial arts gym are you going to? Those are pricey. Begs the question - what is your mental healthcare costing?
It's so weird to me that our society creates this perception that there are "finite resources" for disabled people and if abled people use those resources suddenly we need to crack down on who is *really* disabled.
So many accommodations are not finite resources. Here's a list:
Parents... if you've ever heard "don't label your child"... or, if you're worried about potential negative outcomes of using labels (e.g. autistic, ADHD, SPD, OCD, etc.) this thread is for you.
If an autistic person is expressing their autistic joy or authentic self, please don’t tell them they are being too loud, too much or need it tone it down if there is no need to. Each time they are shamed for their unmasked self, a little bit of them breaks. #AutsimAcceptanceDay
I sneezed without my mouth fully closed and unintentionally projectiled my cough drop out of my mouth and had to spend the last 12 minutes searching for the damp menthol orb somewhere in my room
non-indigenous people are not the experts on Indigenous cultures.
argue with me all you want, there’s nothing you can do to convince me.
You are not the expert on my own lived experience and cultural knowledge.
A lot of autistic people seem wise because we’ve “lived many lives”. Being open-minded, experiencing a lot of trauma, and being unwelcome in many places, we may explore more (unique) corners of life than the average person and thus have a lot of knowledge/experience to draw from.
This thread will be dedicated to the victims of the mass shooting in Monterey Park.
Ming Wei Ma was a dance instructor & owner of the Star Dance Studio. He was described as a caring person with a selfless nature. He was the first to rush towards the shooter to try & save others.
I've debated for a long time about being public with this, bc it's heavy & I still haven't come to terms with it. But I have a rare pre-COVID datapoint so will do it, hoping it helps people:
Right before I got COVID, I did neuro testing to see if I had ADHD.

My daughter received a D in PE for running a mile in 10.40, and not the national standard of 8.32. She wasn’t even a runner, her first time was 14 minutes, dropping by 4 minutes is huge. They should score on progress not some standard. This is how a child’s spirit is destroyed.
