Every time I tune into the church I used to attend and one of the female pastors is teaching - my heart immediately feels at home and ready to receive. It’s still such a beautifully healing thing to behold, a woman carrying the Gospel forward unashamedly.

@sanimonroe @BeccaLindenbach @JessupShannon A lot of us were taught that even mentioning a shower would have all of the males around us picturing us naked, thus causing them to stumble. We learned to be careful with wording in order to avoid that. In hindsight, many of us realize that it’s absolutely ridiculous, but still.

@BeccaLindenbach @JessupShannon My now husband made fun of me because I would say, “Let me wash my hair really quick.”, instead of, “I need to shower.” because internally somehow, the concept of a full shower was too revealing of the fact that I might be naked. @KyleJamesHoward But the boys’ opinion of me and my relationship with me being a positive one was a requirement for me to even continue the relationship into marriage territory. Their hearts matter right along with their dad’s and I want them to know I choose them everyday, too.

@KyleJamesHoward Currently, as girlfriend, the boys have an understanding that I am an adult trusted by their dad to enforce rules. (i.e. he’s outside and they’re sneaking candy. It’s expected that they listen when I tell them not to). What that looks like as step-mom will have to be built into..

@KyleJamesHoward But my main goal is that they see me as a support to their dad, as well as their mom, and any parental role I take on will be one that is prayed over and reevaluated over and over as we discover what works for building our family.
