Over 60% of Nigeria’s workforce operate in the informal sector. NANO and MICRO BUSINESSES generate billions in daily economic activity and sustain millions of households across Nigeria.
As such, First Lady Oluremi Tunibu's (@SenRemiTinubu) comments align with this economic reality. I am glad she is not allowing herself to be bullied by fake outrage merchants and politically motivated folks who have found it difficult to criticise the policies and reforms of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.
Everyone with a brain knows that nano and micro‑businesses are the backbone of Nigeria’s informal economy. Millions of Akara sellers, boli sellers, pepper and vegetable sellers, tailors, okpa sellers, abacha sellers, mechanics, food vendors, etc survive through these nano and small enterprises.
These nano and small businesses are practical, accessible, and the first step toward economic independence for millions. Many prefer a daily profit of N30,000 or N50,000 from petty trade to begging, doing prostitution or crime.
I encourage State Governors to give grants of N100,000, N200,000, N500,000 to nano, micro and small businesses in their state. This will help complement the efforts of the Federal Government, private individuals, and organisations doing their bit.
Doing this, while also helping to build and sustain SMALL, MEDIUM and LARGE ENTERPRISES will go a long way in lifting millions of Nigerians out of poverty.
We must make a deliberate effort to restore academic excellence to the very top of our social value system. A society that ridicules education is toying with its future.
This constant insult towards educated people has gone too far.
I’m here to remind you that we’re one step away from our miracle.
This is Ghana’s goalkeeper at the World Cup. He plays in the local league in Ghana.
We all know they’re underpaid. Look at fans dashing him money.
You & I are close to big things, Amen.
