🚀 Today I started exploring GitLab with Docker!

Instead of just learning GitLab theoretically, I deployed GitLab CE locally using Docker and got it running successfully on my Mac. 🐳

What I learned:
• Running GitLab CE with Docker
• Port mapping & containers
• GitLab health checks
• Local GitLab access
• Root/admin setup
• Next: GitLab CI/CD & Runners
Since I already use GitHub, the goal is to understand what GitLab adds—especially its CI/CD ecosystem.
Next stop → .gitlab-ci.yml → Pipeline → Runner → Docker → Deployment 🔥

AI may make plagiarism harder to detect, but it could also make bad scholarship easier to expose.If AI can generate papers, it can also scrutinize citations, check claims, compare sources, and challenge weak arguments at scale.The real test won't be “Was this AI-generated?”—it'll be “Does the scholarship actually hold up?”

@paulg @lreyzin AI changes the economics of scrutiny.Humans have limited time and patience. AI can examine thousands of pages, cross-check claims, and find inconsistencies at scale.Bad research becomes much harder to hide when the cost of verification approaches zero.

Making it easier for data-center owners to raise capital could accelerate the massive buildout needed for AI—but fewer securitization protections also mean investors need to pay closer attention to the underlying risks.

I think the strongest criticism of “Pause AI” is centralization.

If only a handful of labs can continue developing frontier models, you could end up concentrating enormous technological power in very few hands.

But a pause doesn’t necessarily mean that outcome—some proposals specifically call for international coordination and safety standards, not permanent control by a few companies.

The better goal: make AI safer without making frontier intelligence a monopoly. 

Neither automatically wins.Apps can win through distribution and network effects.
SaaS can win through recurring revenue and deep customer relationships.Ten years from now, I’d bet on the founder who solves a painful problem and builds a strong moat—not the one who picked a specific format. 🚀

AI growth can be strong and layoffs can happen at the same time. The skill mix is changing fast. 

We can measure brain activity, but reliably identifying every individual thought is still a huge challenge.

If engineers ever crack it, privacy becomes the biggest problem. 🧠🔐 

Interesting divergence: eToro’s crypto business is cooling, but overall trading activity and profitability are holding up.

Crypto revenue falling while profit beats expectations shows eToro is becoming less dependent on crypto volumes.

The bigger question: can equities and other products compensate if crypto activity stays weak? 📊 
