@RunsWithPencil@FalmouthUni Keep at it, you are going steady!
I finished my law degree in January, and having started it in the middle of another career it also felt like forever way - until suddenly it was not :)

@multix_labs @BillHeyman@Mascobot The problematic / imprecise wording was part of the AI act since early drafts (even the first draft, unless I misremember), and has been rightly criticized from the beginning by FOSS activists.
It is now being addressed with proposed amendments - we're in the solution phase!
@neirenoir@Mascobot It is somewhat ironic that the very document that addresses the uncertainties of the EU AI Act regarding Open Source via proposed amendments is quoted as the cause of the problem it fixes.
Maybe we should go back to reading our sources instead of having ChatGTP summarize them
@BillHeyman@Mascobot Note that there is no guarantee that CA 6 will be in the final form in the current state, but there is obviously no intention whatsoever by EU legislators to harm open source, it is just important at this point to ensure no accidental harm is caused by imprecise wordigs.
@BillHeyman@Mascobot The article is either misleading or, giving the benefit of the doubt, uninformed, as it seems to be based on a "worst case" interpretation of the original unamended text of the AI act. See https://t.co/d7fWOQFWTi for context on the proposed amendments
@Mascobot Review Compromise Amendment 6, specifically the amended/added recitals 12 and following, which give additional context to what "placing on the market" should mean in the EU AI Act. The exact scenario outlined in the article is actually prevented by these proposed amendments
@Mascobot in fact the original draft of the act was lacking precision on what "placing on the market" could mean, leading to the justified fear that open source development could be impacted. It looks like the necessary clarifications are now being made.

After several months of behind the scenes I'm finally ready to start showing off the progress on our game Isles of Avalon. Here's a few screenshots to get started. Going forward my goal is to start showing off what I've been working on for the week each Friday.
This is my personal project I’ve been working on since my last Ark mod. It’s been awhile coming, but I’ve learned a ton along the way. I’m excited to finally be able to start sharing the progress with everyone.
@xRowCat I am convinced this is the #1 problem for most people.
In today's world of asynchronous communication, don't wait for a reply before coming to the point. I'm happy to try to answer any questions someone might have, but if I first have to drag it out of you - no thanks!
