What people like you don't understand is that India inherited a country with a 12-15% literacy rate and a life expectancy of 35. There wasn't even a proper irrigation system to feed ourselves.

Within 30 years of independence, we had tested nukes, built large-scale infrastructure projects like Bhakra-Nangal, DVC, granted basic rights to Indians, integrated the princely states, built institutions, fought wars, carried out Operation Smiling Buddha then post 80s Antarctic missions, Mars Orbiter Mission, GSLV, Indian Navy Operations, became an associate member state of CERN. The list is endless.

At the rural level, India hasn't collapsed because rural India still functions thanks to Congress-era policies like the FSA and MNREGA.
The only real anti-corruption tool is still the UPA-era RTI (despite the corruption). SVA still gives urban vendors social security. This is actual social justice, not handing out ₹10,000 before elections.

In the last 30 years, since 1996, BJP has ruled for around 18 years, while Congress-led UPA governed for about 10 years in coalition. BJP has won three consecutive Lok Sabha(2 in absolute majorities), while Congress mostly ran coalition governments. Yet you're still seething on that party.

1. They think it does not clean properly.
- They do. Much better than any human can clean including washing off thick Indian curry stains off any type of utensils of any shape using hot water. No smell or residue.
2. Employing a maid is cheaper
- Maybe short term but not in the long run. The water saved is a bonus.
3. They use too much water and power
- Dishwashers are extremely energy efficient. An average washing cycle uses 9-10 liters, a tenth of water washed by hand. No noticeable increase in power bills.
4. No space in the kitchen
- A solvable problem
Been using a dishwasher for 6 years now and there is no way we get the same satisfaction now washing by hand.
