#ClimateChaos is happening now. It will only get worse.
"The most catastrophic effects of climate change, such as mass extinction and catastrophic sea level rise, kick in more aggressively if temperatures rise above the Paris agreement targets."
The window is rapidly closing to stay within 1.5C, according to new scientific research. We must quickly phase out #FossilFuels if we hope to avoid #ClimateChange catastrophe.

Be careful in this heat! Study on European heatwave: "About 1,500 of the 2,300 estimated heat deaths, or 65%, are a result of climate change increasing the heat by 1-4°C, meaning the death toll was tripled due to the burning of fossil fuels,”

Countries that cling to fossil fuels are sabotaging their economies.
Driving up costs, undermining competitiveness, locking-in stranded assets.
They are missing the greatest economic opportunity of the 21st century: the renewable energy revolution.
Proud of the 9 Arkansans who went to the Hill to stand tall for our planet on @citizensclimate lobby day!! All 6 of Arkansas' congressional delegation were visited. This is #Democracy for #ClimateAction. That's how we swing.
Support these and the other excellent volunteers by calling your members of Congress and add your voice to theirs. @citizensclimate has a calling tool that makes it easy and quick.

Coast Guard rescue swimmer Scott Ruskan saved 165 lives in the Texas flash floods.
The 26-year-old, a former KPMG accountant, directed Army Blackhawk 60s and MH-65s to survivors and helped get them to safety, according to the New York Post.
“Ruskan spearheaded a high-risk rescue mission under the worst possible environmental conditions, which in the end saw 165 brought to safety,” the NYP reported.
“I’m just doing a job,” he told the NYP.
“This is what I signed up for, and I think that any single Coast Guard rescue swimmer or any single Coast Guard pilot, flight mechanic, whoever it may be, would have done the exact same thing in our situation.”
“That’s what we were asked to do and we’re gonna do it. Any one of us, if anyone else was on duty that day, they would have done the same thing as us.”
“We just happened to be the crew that got the case.”
Rising temperatures from climate change are enabling lone star ticks to spread beyond their usual southeast US range. Their bites can trigger alpha-gal syndrome, an allergy to red meat. Reported cases have soared from a few dozen in 2009 to 450,000 today: https://t.co/dBAba62CLd
Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater, Senators! Work to get the American supply chain for clean energy built up the right way. Killing the industry that it supports will not do that. It's common sense. @JohnBoozman@SenTomCotton
Stunningly, the new Senate budget bill contains a NEW tax on wind & solar power projects. Avoiding the tax depends on positive demonstration that projects dont violate material assistance rules that is next to impossible to demonstrate. Based on my calcs, could raise taxes on wind & solar projects by up to:
~11% for utility scale solar
~8% for residential solar
~18% for on and offshore wind projects
That comes on top of ending a 30-50% tax cut for wind and solar projects. So this bill could RAISE TAXES on the most important new sources of electricity supply in the USA by at least roughly 40-70%!!
That is utter insanity!
@SenTomCotton This bill has gotton worse, not better. Hamstringing America's energy production by restricting solar, wind and battery production essentially puts us back in the dark ages. America's security, economy, and position in the world are at risk! Vote no on this bill, Senator.
"New heat record for June of 46°C was set Saturday in the town of El Granado, according to Spain's national weather service."
CSI shows this heat was made 3x more likely by climate change — & in much of Spain, would've been almost impossible without it.

China will be the world's first electro-state, the global clean tech hegemon. Especially as the Republican Party forces the US to leave the field of competition uncontested and dig into our role as petro-state. The 21st century vs the 20th.
The energy provisions in the Republicans' One Big Horrible Bill are truly so bad! Who wants this? The country's automakers don't want it. Electric utilities don't want it. Data center developers don't want it. Manufacturers in energy intensive industries don't want it. It straight up murders the boom in battery, solar and wind manufacturing investment. It jacks up your utility bill & raises prices at the pump. It kills a half a trillion dollars of pending investment in US manufacturing and energy supply and 100s of thousands of associated jobs. It makes our air dirtier and our climate more dangerous.
Seriously: Who the fuck benefits from this, besides Joe Craft and his coal mining interests and a couple of big gas producers? Republicans are screwing over their constituents, American business interests, and our country's future in an epic way here.
