@LISUNCHASER@CanonUSA When it tells me it just needs limited access to add a photo, and when I grant that it essentially replies with, “I want it all,” it shouts “I’m sloppy work” and makes it hard to trust it won’t delete everything, whether deliberately or because of a bug. Unreliable, ergo unusable
Trying out @canonusa CameraConect software; it tells me limited access will allow it to add photos, so I grant it, and select the photo to transfer. “NO, gimme full access.” Give you full access, when you’ve already lied to me? Like that’s gonna happen.
@CanonUSA Transferring photos doesn’t require full access. Further, its job doesn’t require it to lie to me about the access it wants. When I ran it, the dialog said it needed limited access, which I granted. Then it claimed to need full access. Untrustworthy behavior.
@SandyofCthulhu Lee Child talked about this. With Cruise you lost Reacher’s 1st impact. A bad guy’s IQ/ego could be shown by how he responded to “first look.” So the movies lost that avenue for characterization, but Cruise could act big enough to carry the rest of the storyline.
@mornings0da@MountainGenera True, if it’s a job you like, or at least tolerate, but if the conditions are bad enough for you to bring it up to your boss in the first place, it’s time to find another job, anyway.
@mornings0da@MountainGenera If you’re not wanting to use AI the way your boss wants, then being ”got rid of” would be a plus, not a minus. Your response seems to indicate the boss was doing you a favor by employing you, quite often it’s the other way round.
Interestingly, @dominos appears to think the attached is a large ultimate pepperoni. Also interestingly, their delivery insurance requires they call a phone line that currently is out of order, and I can’t change that.
@rawtheology — for Dr Cohick or Dr Hughes (I’m sorry but my memory refuses to remind me which requested the citation): I think “The past is a foreign country…” is from L. P. Hartley’s “The Go-Between.” Good podcast.
I don’t know if anyone on the planet could have a more useless chatbot on their customer service line than @we_energies . It just switched to Spanish in the middle of the conversation. Not that it mattered much; it wasn’t answering my question in English, anyway.
And another round battling the broken US healthcare system: @cigna has been billing both my wife and I for her dental coverage. For quite a while.
The Whole system is badly designed and inefficiently run.
@SandyofCthulhu Does it still allow players and DMs to be lazy? Of course. Takes away friction from starting to play. Is that the game’s fault, the DM’s, or the player’s? Could make a good argument for any, but I’d blame the DM‘s crap world building, myself.
I swear @turbotax UI gets worse every year. Between the eleventy-seven pleas for me to switch to online, and the doomsday loop when trying to transfer data from last year’s return, I’m thinking it’ll be easier to get out my pen and file by hand this year!
@ANNELAMOTT The interface is tricky when it comes to reposts. It looks to me like it labels the repost with the time it was reposted, but files it in the feed at the time it was originally posted. Could that be part of your issue?
@Weevil2077@SandyofCthulhu Oh, and just for a more complete picture of the era, the ISA1950 was passed by a Democratic-majority Congress over Truman’s veto. The 1940’s and 1950’s were an interesting time for politics.
@Weevil2077@SandyofCthulhu It was easier and safer to prosecute under the Smith Act, and the Internal Security Act of 1950, both of which required specific actions to be taken. Legal experts even at time of passage for CCA1954 didn’t think it would fully survive judicial review.
@unclebobmartin@imjcmartin Always liked the AMSuper’s approach when I was at Offutt:
”Wave signs, clog and slow the gate traffic. It’s OK; I signed up to defend your right to do it. But if I’ve got my lights flashing, get out of my way; I’m bringing an injured airman to the hospital and I won’t stop!”
