You can’t control what people do. If they want to be offensive, rude, hard to get along with, that’s their choice. But you can control how you respond. Keep your heart pure. Save your emotional energy to live this day to the fullest, to pursue your dreams, to love your family, to be good to your neighbors.
When you compliment yourself, you’re complimenting the God who made you. You’re saying, “God, I thank You for who I am: blessed, strong talented, worthy, victorious.” That’s giving praise to God.
Don’t depend on other people to affirm, approve, or validate you. That’s no way to live. That puts your self-worth and mood in their hands. Put it in God’s hands. Go to Him for your value and approval.
When something comes to an end, don’t stay where God was; go where God is. Go into the new thing. It doesn’t mean the old was bad. The manna you had was good for a season. But now you have to accept the new thing God is doing. Don’t get stuck in the old. He changes seasons.
God brings people in and moves people out. Quit being discouraged over who walked away, who wouldn’t stay. If they left you, you didn’t need them. If they walked away, let them go. God has new relationships, new opportunities.
Get a new perspective. You’re not limited by who raised you. You’re not at a disadvantage. You are about to see the greatness in you come out. Get ready, you’re about to defy the odds.
When you help others rise higher, God will help you rise higher. When you help that neighbor who’s down, you visit that coworker in the hospital, you mentor that young man who’s lonely, when you let others borrow your faith, there’s no limit to how high God will take you.
Be a friend with faith. You’re sowing a seed for when you face obstacles that seem too big, when you feel overwhelmed, when the dream seems impossible. There will be a friend with faith there for you.
God said in Isaiah, “Even to your old age, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you, and I will carry you.” You never get too old for God to carry you. The fact is, God is carrying you right now, but if you don’t recognize it, you’ll live stressed out. You’re in your Father’s arms.
You can’t control what people do. If they want to be offensive, hard to get along with, that’s their choice. But you can control how you respond. Keep your heart pure. Save your emotional energy to live this day to the fullest, to pursue your dreams, to love your family, to be good to your neighbors.
Stay open. God’s ways are not our ways. Sometimes the brook will dry up, sometimes the manna will cease, sometimes someone will walk away. Those aren’t random. They are necessary endings. It’s the hand of God closing one door to open another door.
You may go through the fire, through the flood, through the famine, but favor is coming. The favor of God is going to open doors you couldn’t open. The favor of God is going to take you from the background to the foreground.
You need to take back control of your happiness. Quit putting it in someone else’s hands. Make up your mind that no matter what people do, no matter what they say, how they treat you, they’re not going to steal your joy.
Jesus tells us not to allow ourselves to be upset or troubled. Someone can’t make you get upset; you have to give them permission to upset you. You have to make the choice. Next time, just smile and say, “Not this time. I’m staying in peace. I’m going to enjoy this day.”
You have to get away from the crowd, the compromisers, the complainers, the naysayers, the jealous. If you’ll come out from among them, choose to live by a higher standard, separate yourself from mediocrity, then you’ll be open and ready to receive the great wonders of our God.
Maturity is when you go beyond your feelings. You don’t let them dictate your life. You choose joy, you choose a good attitude, you choose to have a smile. This can save relationships, help you get along better with your children. This can help you go to the next level in your career.
Don't carry around all the worry, the stress, the disappointment. Life is going to happen. If you’re only going to have a good mood if things go your way, then you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. That’s surface living. You have to go deeper.
You've been faithful. You’ve stood strong against that sickness. You’ve fought that addiction the best you could. You’ve endured trouble with a good attitude. You’ve prayed for that wayward child year after year. You’re about to see a breakthrough, a turnaround, healing, restoration, provision.
The Scripture says, “Joy comes in the morning.” Every morning, joy is waiting for you. But let me tell you what else comes in the morning: guilt, bitterness, discouragement. You get to choose. Declare, "This is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it.”
We all want everything fast, but God knows when the best time is. One of the best things I’ve learned is to trust God’s timing. If it hasn’t happened yet, then it hasn’t been the right time. But when God is ready, all the forces of darkness cannot hold him back.
