@Heta_Waffles Heʼd almost forgotten how fluffy a person she could be, but this brings it all back. Leaning to bump noses with her, he murmurs back with all the sentiment as if it had been for everyone to hear.
“Missed you…”
@Heta_Waffles WELCOME BACK! And—
!!? She's hurtling at him so fast, he has to actually brace for impact! … and even then, a step needs to be taken backwards as he embraces her in turn.
Or with one and half of another arm, waffle then in hand, “Bonjour, who?” Oh, you can hear the grin.
@FlowerOfBattle — the guitar between his legs to keep it out of her way; his elbow rested upon its carved body, plucking one last note as if wrapping up the last tune.
“At least you’re smiling—even if it’s that kind of smile… Hey, you wanna request something, asking that, right? Don’t be shy!”
[There he is, with an acoustic guitar a bit too discolored to be new, riiight outside. He’s gonna modern-day “Say Anything” the hell out of this apology.]
Oi! ELIZA!
@FlowerOfBattle
@FlowerOfBattle It didn’t seem to be one that was accepted, even though he was damn sure it was enough to make a fool of himself.
“Hey, it isn’t the first time! Sometimes you just don’t hear it…”
As was expected for muttered apologies. He took the spot beside her in a heartbeat, cradling —
“Aha, she’ll be scurrying around before you know it…”
It seemed she pulled the best traits from her parents. He can’t help but raise her head a little closer to coo back at her—a true baby-whisperer extraordinaire.
"I know right?" She murmured, looking at him with a wide smile.
The little girl was cooing softly, her dark hair standing out with her blue eyes.
"She's growing up so fast though,"
@FlowerOfBattle — was being wooed in his yard. With a curt inhale, he resumed strumming, the tempo mellow and easy. The lyrics were more like spoken words than a ‘true’ melody, and clearly a parody of a song with intentions that differed from his own, more or less. And an Elvis parody, —
“Really? I…”
Peak excitement! With all the care in the world mustered up in a matter of seconds, he slipped his arms under his new niece and cautiously drew her to his chest.
“Tinier than she looked, wow…”
"Of course, you're family," she told him, gently gathering the girl in her arms so he could take her from him. He'd be the first Beilschmidt to hold her.
@FlowerOfBattle “You came out kinda early, but this is good!”
A wide grin on his face, he rolled a shoulder, adjusting the strap around his neck. Chord D, strum.
“You get to hear the whole thing up close.” Chord E7, A7, two strums.
“Ready?”
He’d be lost in that too-familiar sea if she didn’t ask; with a nerve-driven smile, he nodded eagerly.
“Can I really? It’s been a while since I’ve been able to hold something so fragile, but I promise I’ve still got it.”
Peering in after her from the lower end of the crib, he blinked as the little one seemed to respond at even just that. In a split-second, even his eyes sparkled in admiration. So cute, so cute.
“Haa—you weren’t kidding…! Look at her, aw…”
