USCIS Policy Memorandum PM-602-0192 (#USCISpause) has paused the processing of immigration benefits — including OPT, H1B, EAD, and Adjustment of Status — for nationals of certain countries, including Iran. As a result, I am at risk of losing my job offer and legal status.

I came to the United States legally. I have paid taxes, contributed to scientific research, and followed every rule. Yet I may lose opportunities I worked years to earn, simply because of a citizenship I was born into and had no control over.

I am not alone. Thousands of Iranian students and professionals are in the same position — unable to return home due to ongoing conflict, and unable to move forward here due to this policy pause.

We came here legally. We contribute to U.S. science, medicine, and the economy every day. We deserve clarity, fairness, and the opportunity to continue doing so.

I respectfully ask @DHSgov to review Policy Memorandum PM-602-0192, particularly in light of the current situation in Iran.

Multiple reports indicate that many military and security centers across Iranian cities have been evacuated, with forces and equipment relocated into schools. They are turning schools into barracks and using children as human shields to protect themselves.

Today, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson even held a press conference inside a school.

The Islamic Republic has no regard for the lives of its citizens, civilians, or even children. A regime that killed more than 230 children in just two days will not hesitate to see more children die in war if it helps them sell their narrative to the world.
