On this day in 1777, the Second Continental Congress passed a resolution declaring the creation and design of the U.S. flag. It proclaimed “that the flag of the United States be made of thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new Constellation."
May the flag forever wave over our nation, proudly protected by Veterans who have bravely fought for our freedom.
The Army’s 251-year legacy was built by ordinary Americans willing to do extraordinary things for their country.
To every Army veteran: thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your continued leadership.
Happy 251st Birthday, U.S. Army.
The American flag represents freedom, liberty, justice, and the will of a nation to become something greater for 250 years and counting.
On this Flag Day, stand in unity with our homeland, honor our fallen heroes, and salute the greatest mark of freedom anywhere in the world.🇺🇸
