@DivebumChef Admiral Sandy Woodward talked about how a ship is the great equalizer for risk. All members of the ship's company share risk. This goes from the CO to the newest member. Sea state, fires, floods, weather, attacks etc all affect everybody's safety when they happen.

Why I love this job: Visiting an office today and saw a sailor who I hadn't seen since they were a LS, and they are now a PO1. I wasn't in uniform but they recognized me and excitedly came running up, hand outstretched to say "Hi, Sir! It's been so long, how is everything going?"

@rexglacer ISI is buying the steel for the ships they are building as they were awarded the contract through PSPC. "Canada" isn't buying steel for ships, the prime contractor is purchasing materials for their construction program.
