If City didn’t dress the books to make that project look clean, they never hire Pep.
The takeover alone wasn’t the sell. The sell was: “we can spend like a superclub and still look sustainable.” Related-party sponsorships, the FFP dance, the whole thing made City look like a serious job instead of a club one charge away from a transfer ban.
Pep doesn’t leave Bayern for that version of City.
Now the fun part. Say he still comes to England anyway.
Liverpool already have Klopp. Arsenal still have Wenger. Spurs can’t build the machine.
It’s United or Chelsea.
United have the badge. Chelsea have the owner who writes the cheque. One of those two gets him. The Premier League still gets Pep. City don’t.
That’s the bit people skip. Pep didn’t turn up because of the sky-blue badge. He turned up because the project was made to look viable. Take that away and he’s either at Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, or he never comes at all.
If City didn’t dress the books to make that project look clean, Pep never takes that job.
Say he still comes to England in 2016 anyway — Liverpool have Klopp, Arsenal have Wenger. It’s United or Chelsea.
He didn’t come for the badge. He came because the project was made to look viable.
On paper, on the eyes, everywhere it's cheating, if it wasn't, there's no need to "cook the books", the league doesn't want state backed clubs who come in spend money unchecked and start dominating the league. After frustrating the EPL for so long no way it's just a fine, no way bro.
@thecitydefender The guy already has a four year suspended prison sentence and is currently under witness protection in exchange for providing data to European anti-corruption bodies, I guess City aren't the only powerful people he outed.
@KOD0903per The PSR rules in place now were not in place then, Everything Roman did was legal. But City just basically committed fraud, sham contracts, under representing costs etc.
@XolidCity Stop spreading misinformation, check your facts, the premier league would have never had a clue about it if the new administration didn't self report, they even had a budget planned for fines.
@DeadlineDayLive They should be sent to league 2 and watched closely so that they make profits on their own. I don't think they can keep their players if they are demoted like that, cos they've not made enough money to be able to afford this squad in the EPL how much more in a lower league.
@Damianiyke1@NGSuperEagles The players are not motivated, they look confused at times, they clearly don't believe in his playing style, some how the fans always notice before the people who actually have the power to do something about it.
@AristotleArist3@cindy_blog Finally someone with ball Sense. I don't know why he insists on playing two strikers without wingers. It hasn't been working for over a year now and he's still doing it.
I can't remember the last decent coach Nigeria hired, this 4-4-2 diamond system hasn't been working for over a year and the coach continues to play it. Any formation Nigeria plays that doesn't use wingers will not work. This coach could play this formation for ten years with an entirely new generation and it would still not work.
@McFlybowy Maybe, but failure to comply with PSR and FFP gives them an unfair advantage in the transfer market, beating clubs to players who actually win the titles.
