In the 18th century, the Walajahi Nawabs of Carnatic patronisation created a new architectural style that later came to be known as Indo-Saracenic, which blended the pre-existing Indo-Muslim architecture with the European elements.
As a result, the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries witnessed the widespread construction of mosques in this architectural style across India and everywhere Indian Muslim influence extended.
