@dtchq_delhi Had a horrible experience today. This driver was driving recklessly and changing lanes without any indicator or checking. Was about to hit my car. I Tried to stop him by parking my car in front of the bus but he deliberately bumped my car from behind.

I got out and took photo of the bus no. As I was taking his photo he thrashed my phone to the ground and started abusing me and tried to grab my arm and hit me. Please take strict action against him. Please see photos.

It's common knowledge that USA has toppled a lot of regimes. Even CIA's declassified files say so. But how did they do this is an entirely different matter altogether. If thought about with some amount of dissociation, it is interesting and brilliant but when thought about with humanity and compassion, it paints a gory tale of human greed for power.

These are a few stories of how USA murdered democracies and elected regimes throughout modern history.

Chapter 1. Iran. Operation Ajax.

1950. Britain was still trying to remain an empire. Like every middle aged man about to die from diabetes and lung cancer as a result of a life full of bad decisions, Britain was prone to being stupid. They had a company in Iran – Anglo Persian. Guess what that company dealt in? Of course, Oil. British would take all the Oil out of Iran and Iranis used to end up earning only 30% of what their Saudi competitors were earning by selling oil to US. So there was this politician named Mohammad Mosaddegh. He was elected as the Prime Minister of the country. So like any good ruler, he thought like any sane leader would and should, “Oh, my country, my resources, why the hell should my people not reap the profits?” After trying to negotiate with the British for a better deal, he realized that Britain has still got the Colonial hangover where it thought it ruled the world while in reality Hitler had gone all kamikaze on their empire.

In 1951, Iran’s Parliament voted to nationalize the oil industry and legislators backing the law, elected its leading advocate, Dr. Mosaddegh, as prime minister. Britain responded with threats and sanctions. Iran didn’t back down. This came as another major blow to already crippled British economy. But wait. Wasn’t this story about Americans? Yes. What did the British do? Since the war had left them almost powerless, they went and cried in front of America. Americans, surprisingly, were levelheaded and initially scolded the Brits. But some intelligent guy in British administration thought of that one thing that USA was irritated about the most at that point of time– Communism! Cold war was at its peak and Britain convinced USA that if the ‘allies’ lost hold of Iran, all these natural resources would come under Soviet control. “Those soviet motherfuckers!” is what I think US administration collectively screamed.

Soon, CIA funded a coup against Mosaddegh. Kermit Roosevelt, grandson of 26th President of US Ted Roosevelt, was an intelligence officer and in charge of the Operation. He devised a genius method. Newspaper editors were given obscene amounts of money to write stories against Mosaddegh and then place a small retraction on page 13 few days later. People noticed the headlines and by the time retractions came, nobody cared about them anymore. Basically, they were the TOI and Indian Express of Iran. Strange religious organisations, whom nobody had heard of before, started condemning Mosaddegh and getting front page coverage.

CIA also hired a mob to run rampant in Tehran, breaking windows, looting shops and shouting, “We love Mosaddegh.” “We love Communism”. This was to project a negative image while another mob was hired to fight the first mob so that everybody thinks there is a big tussle going on. And then these small skirmishes were given front page coverage again. And these are the pre-internet days, pre TV days that we are talking about. Soon the inevitable happened.

A democratically elected Prime Minister was forcefully removed by the royalist part of the army and The New York Times had a nice editorial about it saying, “Underdeveloped countries with rich resources now have an object lesson in the heavy cost that must be paid by one of their number which goes berserk with fanatical nationalism.” Shah of Iran was airlifted from him villa in Italy and paradropped in with his majestic dictatorial skills backed by the Americans.

Then comes 25 years of terror, atrocities, violence. 1957 saw the formation of SAVAK, a national security organisation with far ranging powers to detain indefinitely anybody who was deemed against the dictator. According to an stimate about 350000 people lost their lives in this regime of terror leading to the revolution in 1979 and the overthrow of the Shah. Basically whatever shit Iran is in today can be traced back to 1953. And this was just the beginning. USA learnt two important things from this event.

1. They could overthrow governments.

2. It was easy....

P.S- Mohammad Mossadegh was imprisoned for 3 years and then kept under house arrest till his death in 1967. He was buried in his living room. This is a picture from 1965. US formally acknowledged its role in this coup in 2013.
