What happened today at News18 India Noida studios deserves to be publicly called out.

@anubhavsinha and @taapsee promoting Assi kept a panel of experts from all ideological shades and 60 college students waiting for nearly two hours, refused to communicate properly and behaved as though everyone else’s time was irrelevant. This is neither ‘hectic schedule’ nor some subtle form of art activism. This is arrogant entitlement.

Anyone who cannot respect a panel or students will never respect an audience. And anyone who claims moral authority while behaving with such casual contempt deserves neither viewership nor defence. They certainly do not deserve any public platform to convey whatever they wish to espouse. They should be left to wallow in their megalomaniac world.

I urge people not to watch this film. Not because of ideology but because creators who disrespect dialogue do not deserve any democratic legibility. If this film meets the same fate as their earlier box-office failures, it will not be censorship or conspiracy but consequence.

Thank you News18 for taking the lead, calling out this behaviour and cancelling the conversation that they refused to turn up on time for.
