Have you seen Sir John A. Macdonald?
Across Canada, statues of Sir John A. Macdonald have been removed, boxed up, or vandalized—from Montreal and Kingston to Victoria and Regina.
We believe history should be explained, not erased. These statues, when paired with thoughtful interpretation and historical context, can help Canadians confront the full story of Macdonald’s legacy—both his achievements and his failures.
It’s time to return these monuments to their rightful places, with interpretive plaques and educational programs that tell the whole story. Erasing our history doesn’t heal us—it silences opportunities for learning and understanding.
What do you think? Should Canada restore these statues with meaningful context rather than hide them away?
Together, we all make history. Follow CIHE for more conversations about Canada’s past and its future.

This by-election result once again unmasks the Alberta separatist “movement” as a completely empty shell.
The two separatist candidates (one from the ironically named United Party of Canada) got 1.5% of the vote between them, in the riding that would be ground zero for separatist sentiment.
The candidate whose campaign slogan was “Canada First” won over 80% of the vote.
This follows the separatists’ humiliation in a provincial by-election two months ago, in the only riding ever to elect a separatist in Alberta, back at the height of the National Energy Program.
This is a clear message that the effort and noise around a referendum on secession is a pointless distraction from the important work of building a stronger and more prosperous Alberta, and fighting for needed reforms in Ottawa.
Let’s get on with that job.
35% plus of the world exports in pulse crops, 20-30% of world exports in various cereal and oilseeds, the worlds best beef, 35-40% of the worlds potash reserves, up to 15% of worlds uranium production and about to grow, 1/3 of worlds oil reserves. Well that's Sk and Ab anyway
Re the U.S. debt downgrade, you should know that credit ratings understate credit risks because they only rate the risk of the government not paying its debt. They don't include the greater risk that the countries in debt will print money to pay their debts thus causing holders of the bonds to suffer losses from the decreased value of the money they're getting (rather than from the decreased quantity of money they're getting). Said differently, for those who care about the value of their money, the risks for U.S. government debt are greater than the rating agencies are conveying.

🇨🇦’s canola industry-worth over $40b to the economy-is being pounded by 100% tariffs from China who retaliated on our canola when 🇨🇦 tariffed Chinese EVs. 🇨🇦’s obsession w/ an EV industry that does not seem to be as interested in 🇨🇦 comes with a huge cost to western agricultural
Albertans have good reason to be deeply frustrated with Ottawa.
Despite making a net contribution of ~$20 billion to fiscal federalism every year, we have faced a government in Ottawa fundamentally hostile to our largest industry, one central to Canada’s economy.
That’s why:
▪️I led the fight against anti-growth policies like Bill C-69, which I dubbed the “No More Pipelines Law,” building a coalition of 9 provinces, and winning in our constitutional challenge at the Supreme Court.
▪️ My govt repealed the Alberta carbon tax, and sued Ottawa over the federal carbon tax. It took a few years, but it’s gratifying to see that we have finally won that fight.
▪️I sued Ottawa over its ridiculous plastics ban, winning at the Supreme Court.
▪️ I sued Ottawa over Trudeaus’s unconstitutional invocation of the Emergencies Measures Act, winning that case, too.
▪️My govt successfully negotiated equivalency agreements with Ottawa to keep the feds out of our back yard in regulating industrial emissions, methane emissions, northern habitat, & much more.
▪️We applied constant pressure for the successful completion of the TMX Pipeline.
▪️We held a referendum on equalization to give Albertans a voice on unfairness in the federation.
▪️Alberta & Sask won our fight against Stephen Guilbault’s absurd Clean Electricity Standard.
▪️I commissioned the Fair Deal Panel to identify other ways to assert a strong Alberta within a united Canada, implementing most of its recommendations.
And it’s why Alberta & Sask are fighting against PM Carney’s proposed big increase in the industrial carbon tax, which would massively disadvantage our trade exposed industries; & the proposed cap on oilsands production.
In these & other fights, Alberta wins when we make alliances with other provinces, & patiently make the case to our fellow Canadians.
Just look at the recent polling showing that super majorities support both oil and gas pipelines in every province!
The vast majority of First Nations now support responsible resource development, thanks in part to my govt leading the way in helping indigenous communities to become co-owners of big projects.
Let’s seize the momentum! We’re winning the arguments!
While I join most Albertans in being disappointed with Monday’s election results, let’s hold PM Carney to his words about making Canada “a global energy super power,” deregulating to build big projects, including pipelines.
But if we turn inward in a pointless debate on the charade of separation, we will reverse that momentum.
Never make a threat you can’t keep.
Despite our frustrations, the vast majority of Albertans are, and always will be, proud Canadians.
With decades of the highest interprovincial migration, we have welcomed millions of folks from other provinces, making us the most Canadian province. It’s why our Legislative Assembly is the only one in Canada proudly to display the flags of all 13 provinces & territories.
We know that Canada isn’t perfect, but it is our home and native land.
And we know that a country is much more than a balance sheet, or ledger of fiscal transfers. It is a community bound together by shared history, loyalty, values, traditions, & institutions.
In the 50 years that a tiny minority of westerners have pushed the separatist cause, they have only managed to win *one* byelection, at the height of the National Energy Program.
Separatists can’t elect a dog catcher in Alberta. So why allow their futile ranting to dominate the debate, distract from the real issues, and distort Alberta’s real identity as a proud, confident, patriotic province?
We are bold thinkers and big builders, not perennial victims.
We honour those who went before us, including thousands of Albertans who died in the defence of Canada, and who lie below gravestones marked forever by the maple leaf.🍁
We’re Alberta proud, and will always be part of the true North, strong and free.

The group Canadians for Free Enterprise have decided to release a series of statements in the next few days on why they are endorsing @PierrePoilievre for Prime Minister. They’ve asked me to share them. In this second piece, Susan McArthur and Brian Porter share their views.
I’m extremely disappointed that President Trump has chosen to walk away from a trading relationship that for decades has made life better for millions of workers on both sides of the border.
I wish we weren’t here. I wish Ontario and Canada were working together with our American friends and allies to make our two countries the richest, most successful, safest, most secure on the planet. Instead, President Trump has chosen to move forward with tariffs that will only hurt America and make Americans poorer. Canada now has no choice but to hit back and hit back hard.
As Premier of Ontario, the federal government has my full support for a strong and forceful response that matches U.S. tariffs dollar for dollar. Canada has so much of what America needs: high-grade nickel and other critical minerals, energy and electricity, uranium, potash, aluminum. We need to maximize our points of leverage and use them to maximum effect. The federal government needs to also pursue every legal route to challenge these unfair, unjustified and illegal tariffs.
The coming days and weeks will be incredibly difficult. Trump’s tariffs will devastate our economy. They’ll put 450,000 jobs at risk across the province. Every sector and region will feel the impact.
With a strong, stable, four-year mandate that outlives and outlasts the Trump administration, I’ll do whatever it takes to protect Ontario, our workers, businesses and communities. I’ll invest tens of billions to retrain workers for new opportunities, retool companies for new customers, reshore supply chains and rebuild roads and highways to create new jobs. I’ll make tough choices to make Ontario’s economy the most competitive place to invest, create jobs and do business.
None of us want to be here, but Canada and Ontario have faced down this kind of challenge before. Each time, we’ve emerged stronger, more united, more determined than ever. Canada and Ontario will once again answer the call.
Together, we’ll meet this moment. We’ll stand united. We’ll stand strong.
Together, we’ll protect Ontario.
