🏴 Meanwhile in the 10th tier of English football, there was absolute CHAOS at the Butcher’s Arms.
Droylsden beat Maghull 3-2 on penalties — sealed with the 16th spot kick, to be promoted to the 9th tier. 🎯
1,940 fans were at the game. 🤯
MOT today. £39 to prove my car is roadworthy. £270 for two new tyres. Old ones have plenty of tread but have developed cracks through being constantly battered by potholes. Road Tax due 1st April £195. Diesel now £1.53. Roads not fit for purpose. Where is OUR money going??
This is going to be more common across the Premier League. I've no problem with it when it's pre-warned like this, which used to be #MUFC approach. You can plan your day around it, as you know what to expect.
Now, as we know, there is no warning. As United fans, we're faced with deactivated tickets and having to visit the ticket office, which interrogates us to prove our identity with untoward tactics.
It's just a game of football. You have to question the clubs' motives. We're all told it's to prove who's using the ticket, and it's to prevent touting, but we all know this is becoming a revenue driver for clubs.
We clearly saw from the recent World Cup draw how America is beginning to influence our game, so if you didn't realise before, then there's a hint of what's coming. Just look at how many American owners there are across the English game, and not just in the Premier League.
Whether we like it or not, the end is near. The Premier League won't have our backs; their priority is to protect their brand, and you can guarantee their focus is on stopping piracy and Fire Sticks, as that's financially beneficial to them more than any of us, the match-going fan.
It'll be interesting to see what happens with the £30 away match ticket cap ahead of next season. The clubs want to get rid of it. I remember before it was introduced, we had a £5 discount on away tickets; both Chelsea and Arsenal's prices were already £62 at that point, including the discount. What would they be today without the cap? I dread to think.
I don't think they'll remove the cap, but I expect it to increase. In reality, given the total amount of money in the game, an allocation of 3,000 means only £30k extra for a club per game, which adds up to £570k a season. A club earns more than that from just one televised game from a Facility Fee.
🚨🎙️ | Wayne Rooney:
“I had fallen out with Sir Alex Ferguson but during matchdays, I would run through a brick wall for him. My problems with him would never stop me from giving my best for the team.”
Something modern day players need to understand.
You don’t play for the manager, you play for the badge. Nothing should stop you from giving your best.
Just for my own peace of mind, as I’m easily confused. This is United’s Director of Fan Engagement? Who doesn’t actually engage with fans unless it suits him/ the club.
