Saying the word “Omarchy” is apparently a summoning ritual for the Omarchy chuds. Hi! I know you love searching the timeline for any mentions so welcome!

Let’s get the technical parts out of the way so we can skip the part where you claim I only care because of DHH's shit views:

- A huge chunk of the "distro" is still interlinking bash scripts treating each other like functions. Quattro moved the pretty bits into one Quickshell process, but the glue that installs, updates, migrates, and pokes the hardware is still just a pile of fragile scripts and no real interfaces. - The repo on Github repo language bar says it clearly: 56.5% shell, then QML. That is NOT what a mature distro looks like. That's pretty much a ricing framework that got an ISO.
- Security defaults that exist so DHH doesn't have to type carefully. For example, one of their newly announced "security team" and one of the main contributors to Omarchy changed the default password tries to 10 instead of the regular 3. Their own package repo ran on SigLevel=TrustAll for a LONG stretch of time. That same head of security also had to be explained Barney-style what "SigLevel=Optional TrustAll" meant in the comments section of Twitter. Even then, he never conceded that he was wrong even when the folks in the comments provided receipts and documentation. They silently changed it after he was publicly embarrassed enough.
- It sits on Arch, then adds its own repo, migrations, and delayed mirror, so you get Arch breakage and Omarchy breakage. Pretty much have to use snapshots because they know that the updates will go sideways at times.
- I won’t get into the other stuff that will be landing soon. You'll be searching for the word daily anyway.

But hey... On the bright side, you can feel like your wallpaper slaps, the boot logo will probably feel like you're scoring points in some culture war going on in your head, and you can tell everyone how you broke free of the "woke clowns" of Linux.

P.S. Yes, I find DHH's views disgusting, racist, transphobic, and terrible. However, the technical points still stand.
